Official Swap Magic Thread

I have noticed that a few people have started patching there PES3 with the various patches available. I have also noticed that most people are using the slide card/swap magic method. I am proud as that was a method unknown to the community until I arrived therefore automatically crowining me Slide Card king! kiddin!

This thread is devoted to patching PES3 using the swap magic bundle. Just to update on the swap magic front, a new version has been released: Swap Magic 3.0 which has the following features:

Provide Multi-Language menu including: English, Chinese, Spanish, German, Italian, Korea.

Swap Magic 3 can change the color system (NTSC, PAL) output of the PS2 so that you can play all the NTSC and PAL games.

TOC refresh mechanism which allows your PS2 to play large size game disks or games (requires an extra swap using an original High-TOC Disc which is not included)

Supports v9 SCPH-5000X consoles. (Apparantly)

Please NOTE that at this moment only the European version is available of the 3.0 PAL CD Disc, and the 3.0 DVD Disc is still NOT completed debugging nor available.

For those of you who have patched PES3 and use the slide card, please can you help by telling us if you used any specific rip kits or no mod fixes!

Hey Jag, It was one of your threads that I learned about the slide card and the swap magic 2.0 CD's. I just got it yesterday. I only have one import (WE6 FE) and the kit works great!

My next step is to patch WE6 FE.

Consider me a slide card/swap magic supporter.

swap magic v3 cd will also boot dvd backups using the TOC feature. so no real need for the DVD v2 disk

I heard from sites who sell slide cards and swap magic discs and I'm pretty sure I heard that afta u've inserted the swap magic disc, U got 10 seconds to get the import/copy game back into the drive and press x on da controller. It also says sumthin bout eject buttons light turns orange? Is this true?

Cos I'm not sure at all if I'll be able to take the swap magic CD out and put the copy game in using the slide card in less than 10 seconds.

Well, I use swap magic 2.0 and I've never had that happen to me. I've waited well over 10 seconds and nothing happens. I've waited up to a minute (spilled drink) to insert the CD and it takes like usual.

I see a lot of people on here asking if the pes3 rip will work with the swap method to boot (no mod)

If you use tutorial in the sticky to rip your original dvd to cd you will end up with a patchable image of 704mb, i think this is why people think maybe it wont boot as you can only boot 633mb with nomod chip.

However when you burn the image you will end up with a TOC of only 613mb, this is also after patching with the jonboyos patch (130mb ish).

SO the answer is yes it will boot with just the swapmethod and nomod chip required.

I AGREE with Jag87's last statement. Patched my PES3 this afternoon and it works spot on using swap magic 2.0 disks and a flip top.

I reckon to be on the safe side dont burn a image file any bigger than 750mb in size to CDR unless u have a disk called Pro Breaker (which I understand is only sold in america)

all the suggestion that it takes 10 sec is alot of crap that for other swap style disks.

BUT IF U GET PRO BREAKER FOR THE CDR BASED GAMES U CAN PLAY GAMES UP TO 800MBS

DVD backups seem to be more problematic especially if u have a v7 model or higher.

This is due to Data Piracy protection checks on games like SWAT ect etc

The CD is V3 and i think the DVD is V2.

you can boot DVD games with the Swap Magic Disk V3. Thats provided you use an original High TOC disk to refresh such as GTA3, then swap it for your backup. So inclusion you dont really need swap magic DVD 2.

I've bought one, but haven't fitted it because I'm waiting for WE7:I Japanese edition to come out on Feb 19th. Either I'll order it on Import, or my brother has a friend in Thailand who can send a copy.

No I mean I want instructions on how to swap DVD games and play them wit swap magic V3 (CD version) usin a high TOC original DVD game.

okay....


1. Boot your ps2 console with swap magic v3 (cd).
2. At the LOAD PROGRAM prompt, press the Eject button on your ps2.
3. Insert your High TOC (Original Disk) ie GTA3 etc..then wait as it refreshes your TOC level....wait about 15 sec's.............
4. It will now prompt you to insert another disk.
5. Use your swap card trick or flip top to insert your backup.
6. Press x to boot.

dvd rips are on CDR so there is no need to refresh the TOC. The above guide is purely for booting up a DVD backup using the Swap Magic V3 cd.

All cd based games regardless of size in theory should work. If they were originally on CD, they should work if a backup is made.

yeah original retail pressed disks should load regardless because it aint a backup basically. However, as far as I know there aint a game on the market cd wise that is larger than 632MB i'm afraid.

I got Breaker Pro in the post today and tested it with all my dvd rips larger than 632mb's they booted,,,,,so it works fine.

Thinking about it PES4 might be and probably will be larger in size compared to PES3 so anyone using Swap Magic might have to get their hands on Breaker Pro at some point.
