Are you using a DVD version of WE8:LE? I have a friend who has Swap Magic v3 something (not the latest version) and his WE8:LE works fine. Most people burn the game wrongly and this is why it doesn't load. Have you tried other back-ups with your slide card/Swap-Magic? Do they work?
Yes, DVD version of WE8:LE unpatched. See the thing is, i can play Gran Turismo 4 U.S. version (I'm in U.S.) perfectly fine through Swap Magic. I did this to check if Swap Magic was working and I guess it works. When I try WE8:LE, it stalls at the main screen for maybe 30 seconds and no action is taken. I also attempted to play a patched version i did while the Swap Magic was shipping, and it did not work either. Apparently neither japanese nor burned versions worked. Keep in note that I have a very early version ps2. Is this because of the weak laser? I'm sure other people with my same version can play it, so i'm not quite sure. I'll list my process.

1. Turn on PS2, insert Swap Magic v3.6
2. Main screen, remove disc with slide card, insert WE8:LE
3. (Not a Valid ps2 disc), press Load Program
4. Stalls for 30 seconds, PS2 is reading the disc. No action is taken and it remains at the Swap Magic main screen.
5. Sit in front of TV completely disappointed

What would you guys suggest?

I believe I did, but I'm still unsure of the real process.

I re-insert the disc, slide my tool in, move it to the right so the cd-loader pops out a little bit, and shift it back to the left to close it again?

I believe thats how its suppossed to be done, someone please prove me wrong!?

Make sure you 'hook' the slide tool around the catch inside the PS2 to actually force the drive shut.

If you are doing this then it sounds like a dodgy disc if it wont play so get a refund.

Well my disc does work on my pc so i can patch it. My patched sunjun version won't run on ps2 either. The sunjun version wouldn't even react. It IS a dvd rw though, is that the issue?

I feel your pain shaggy, I'm having exactly the same problems as you. No one on here ever answers to my threads on it :( I feel I wasted my money on all this swap magic and switch tool (i have a simline ps2 but same probs)

Sorry to see that people aren't trying to help fellas. Right, let's try and sort this out.

1. Kevthedrummer has a PSTwo (slimline version) as per the last thread. Is yours a normal. older PS2 shaggyoogle?

2. The concept in both cases is the same. You are tricking the PS2 into thinking that the Swap-Magic disc (that contains the boot information i.e Playstation 2 logo comes up etc) is still in the console when in reality you have swiftly changed the Swap-Magic disc for your backup.

3. Here's how you do it on the older model. Press 'Eject' to start up your PS2 and insert your Swap Magic disc. Make sure it's the DVD version, not the Swap Magic CD version. Close the tray. When the 'space/stars' screen appears, slide open the tray using the small plastic 'key' you should have recieved with the Swap-Magic discs. Remove the Swap-Magic disc and insert your WE8:LE disc. !!DO NOT PRESS 'EJECT' TO CLOSE THE TRAY!! Press the tray back into the PS2 again with your hand and 'lock' it using the key mentioned before. Exactly the same movement but the other way around. Only then can you press 'X' to load the game.

thank you for responding mumpleaser. I have a very old ps2, version 1 or 2. The laser may be very old, so i'm not sure if thats the issue. To be honest, i did NOT close the tray manually, i did press the eject button. Might that be a crucial problem? No one seemed to mention that before.

having seen the video on how to work it, I do believe you are supposed to close it manually. All instructions are on the following site:

Yerp that would be the problem. (Made the same mistake myself before).
