Msconfig is actually where I'd tell you to go if turning the graphics detail and resolution fails to fix the problem - not that we'd leave it there but at least we'd know where it is coming from.

Feel free to provide screenshots of all items in the startup tab of msconfig and I'll let you know which programs you don't need to be running at startup. Don't remove all of them.

Don sweey, thank you very much your interest and help. I installed catalyst 8.9 (latest) and no problem occurs for now. If problem comes back, I will write back here.
I am looking forward 17th october 2008 for pes 2009. :)

I am here again to say problem came back don sweey. I play for 2 or 3 hours and game begin to run very fast. It takes 2 seconds for the ball to arrive to the other goal area after my keeper use goal kick. If it is memory leak, how can I fix it? What can it be else don sweey?

You can't fix a memory leak but I don't see how it can be that because it should happen to everyone.

Do you have patch 1.2 installed? http://dl.konami-europe.net/PES2008Patch1_20.zip

Is your processor overclocked?

Can you provide me with screenshots of msconfig so I can see all programs that are running at startup?

Which operating system are you using by the way? I can't remember if you've already mentioned that or not.

I cannot attach any screenshots that shows start up programs which are run automatically after starting windows because there is a problem about uploading attachments although they are smaller that 250 kb and jpeg formatted pictures. But I can say that only two programs tickedat msconfig start up:
-CLIstart
-ctfmon

Is it ok?
I am using windows xp sp3 by the way.
What do you think?

Both of those programs are fine and XP SP3 shouldn't be causing any issues.

Unfortunately as we're running out of options, it might be a case of hoping it isn't a problem which arises with PES 2009 when it is released in around three weeks.

We can see when demo is released. I think konami will relase demo nowadays.
Don sweey I do not know why but I feel that the problem is about my processor. When I use fraps to measure frame rate during game, it always shows "60 fps" and it is stable, never even 59. So that means I do not have a frame rate or monitor problem. The one who watches my match in pes 2008 can think that frame rate is about 100 fps. But fraps tells us the truth; 60 fps constantly. So I think my processor runs much faster or sth like that, I cannot speak technically.

I wouldn't agree that it is your processor. Remember that I have a faster processor than yours and don't get the issue while a lot of people will either have the same processor as you, one slightly inferior but able to provide the same results or one superior to you. It would happen to a lot more of us if not all of us.

I do see where your logic is coming from - that the processor or graphics card are able to process the game far more quickly and suddenly seem to do so but you'd just expect it to be a much more common problem. It might even be a setting in your BIOS but the fact it doesn't happen with other games suggests your hardware settings are generally fine.

I sincerely hope you don't have this issue with PES 2009.

I wish I do not have this issue with PES 2009 don sweey.
But I cannot understand how the gameplay seems as it runs at 100 fps while it runs at 60 fps in fact. In addition, I noticed same problem with fifa 08 as well.
When I had a 512 mb nvidia 8500 gt, I never had a problem like that. The problem was slow gameplay at high resolutions and slow replays at any resolution then. But it was quite natural because 8500 gt is not such a fast card. I remember that I was always playing pes 2008 at 1680*1050 medium detail and gameplay was always smooth. We can think that ATI is not good at driver support.

But that too, unfortunately, is inaccurate. I'm using a HD 4870 and it runs fine.

Two things I've somehow missed: make sure your monitor refresh rate is set to 60Hz and that in Catalyst Control Center under 3D -> Standard Settings you've got the slider bar set to either Balanced or Quality instead of Performance.

I doubt any of that will help due to the fact your speed issue doesn't happen all the time but worth trying.

My setting is always at "quality" in ccc because I have been searching for a solution since I bought the game (october 2007). My monitors refresh rate is also 60. It is impossible to be over 60 because I measure framerate with fraps as I said before.
What about re-installing windows? I have tried it before but it did not work.
P.S. I tried playing pes 6 last night, same problem. :( (It was running perfect at 1680*1050 high detail with my nvidia 8500 gt)

I think we're stuck :(

Re-installing Windows seems drastic to me. Have you uninstalled the graphics drivers, then used a program like DriverSweeper to get rid of hidden graphics drivers, rebooted again and then installed the ATi drivers again?

You remind me sth I have forgotten to mention. I tried deleting old driver with driver sweeper. I clicked "analyse and clean" when I analyse, program detected all ati graphic drivers. After doing this I clicked "clean" and it said "cleaned". And then I analyse again, oops same drivers were there again to be cleaned. I did this several times, no good! I restarted pc without installing new driver and checked again if there are any ati drivers again; driversweeper said "yes", old drivers were there again. I ignored that and installed ati catalst 8.9 (new driver). When I was uninstalling old ati catalyst it asks me "only graphic driver or all drivers (including chipset drivers)" I am not sure if my chipset driver is ati. My processor is intel core 2 duo e6550, 2,33 ghz. My motherboard is gigabyte p35-s3 and so my chipset is intel p35.
What do you think now?

If DriverSweeper seems to be having that effect (thinking its deleted drivers and then they re-appear immediately), reboot in safe mode and run it again.
