PES 2012 to me sounds very positive all be it early, I'm trying to not get to caught up, as of course like many here, I am yet to play it for myself.
The information people have gave who HAVE PLAYED IT, seems to be very very positive at this early stage and from the game play I have seen, it looks very nostalgic and a lot better/improved on 2011. It is obviously getting "that vibe" and anticipation this time around like no other PES of recent. People are talking about PES now in a different shade, giving it the respect and time it deserves. I feel Konami are genuinely onto something this time around, for the first time since the brilliant PS2 years, when of course we had PES 1, 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 and 6....when that "other game" in all honesty, was really IRRELEVANT back then! (I think we should all remember that!)
PES 2011 was definitely onto something, almost like an un-cut diamond, when its nearest "competition" was more like sloppy mash potato turning very stale.
We all know what your gonna get from the "other game" every year.
I for one, cannot stand the "other game" and to be honest with you, never really have. "That developer" insults us, true football fans. They tend to fall back on the old, "Well we have all the licenses, so we are simulation" IMO there is nothing simulation about the "other game" it does nothing for me. It generally works like this for the "other game..." It is now aimed at a certain stereotype player with the game designed to find self-proclaimed and obvious grey areas, to keep everyone and anyone "content". Focusing on "that kiddy card game" while the game itself is ignored all year round. The game itself does not encourage football, it encourages play to exploit and abuse bad aspects of the game first and how many times they are capable of doing it.
Football involved is at a bare minimum, ironically in this "football" game. It plays out more like Ice Hockey than it does Football and with the "new" feature of the gimmicky over the top reactions to "Impact" tackles, it seems like they have designed a game to play like Rugby and NOT FOOTBALL, which they have been blatantly been building on for some years now....just for my theory to basically be totally confirmed. The direction they are taking is the opposite of what they should be, yet the blind brainwashed "casual" gamer sucks up for it every year. Why?
If I load up the "other game 11" after playing PES 2011, I can pick it up effortlessly and easily. Everything is totally automatic and done for. It has zero learning curve and after 2 minutes, you can already find patterns of play or exploits that work and sweet spots to shoot from on the edge of the box using RB. Same goals, same football EVERY GAME......I remember "the other game 99" being like this? or is that just me? Groundhog day football at its finest, no variety.
If you switch back to PES 2011 after playing "the other game 11" it is so hard I have found to totally adjust back to, you end up doing the horrible habits you picked up from the "other game" that clearly do not work. PES 2011 has a massive learning curve, just when you think you have "got it"....it gets you. This is the main reason I think people refuse to look at it enough to get an opinion of it, it is simply to hard for them and the suckers give up after 5 minutes.
To me "the other game" looks the same in every way shape and form every single year, does it really justify £40 annually?
Or does the alternative, that is clearly changing for the better every year, deserve £40 annually?
"the other game" - Aimed at people that want everything done for them.
PES - Aimed at people who have brain cells.
It is a no brainer for me this year, the "other game 12" will remain glued to its fucking shelf in the shop, where it should be.
The only football game that will grace my console is PES 2012.
