This is the official sign-up thread for the third weekly pre-season race. As we are still awaiting some new additions (Sminky, muscularmatt) to really get going and as there is also a fair bit of inexperience in the field, I would still like to hold off on starting anything that will 'score points' as it were.
Driving aids will once again be relaxed to allow everyone to choose a setup that allows them to remain competitive.
Racing Itinerary
Date: Sunday 18th March 2012
Time: 22:30 (GMT)
22:30-23:00 - Q1 (30 minute qualifying/testing session)
23:00-00:00 (approx.) - R1 (14 lap race, grid decided on qualifying times - this will work eventually!)
If, once our first (main) race is finished, everyone is happy to continue we will schedule a second, shorter race.
Track - Circuito de Madrid
Length: 2.11 miles
Straight length: 0.51 miles
Elevation difference: 61.0 ft
Corners: 15
Entry requirements
Car: Volkswagon Golf IV GTI '01
Power: 168 BHP
Weight: 980kg
Drivetrain: FF
This car is acquired from the New Car Dealership. It should then be race-modified (immediately after purchase) to receive the correct specification. No further parts may be purchased, except for Racing Hard tyres (or worse).
Tyres: Racing Hard or worse
As far as racing aids, traction control will be allowed, as will the driving line, skid recovery force, mild active steering and the ABS. This is in the hope that those of you struggling to keep control of your car will have a more enjoyable time and keep things more competitive.
Of course, those who wish to play without are encouraged to do so (I know I won't be using any aids).
--
I think Madrid will provide a good third venue for us. The visuals we get should be nice and I think the Golf will be quicker than last week's Lupo, which will help those still getting to grips with handling their car.
Finally, those who love to go extremely wide will find themselves with more damage, but less time lost, as Circuito de Madrid is enclosed with barriers all the way.
Go get testing! And sign up below.
