After a bit of club jumping, trying to find my way, I've decided to park myself at the BayArena and Bayern Leverkusen.

Having fun as lone striker, with players such as Andre Schurrle, Sidney Sam, Borja Valero, Simon Rolfes and Arturo Vidal backing me up.

Im getting frustrated at being subbed at the same time every match and not getting enough time in the secound half to make a difference.

Im getting frustrated at being subbed at the same time every match and not getting enough time in the secound half to make a difference.

Well, when I have that trouble, I put gametime for 15 mins, more time to make a difference. (It works: The last night Liverpool(P) - Man. Utd = My player score a hat trick and win the game 4-3 for the FA Cup Tournament Semis  ... Until the Arsenal kill us in PKs... :crymore:)

Hi guys, thought I'd say thanks for the comments/advice so far.. I've spent a lot of time on the BAL mode over the years and have enjoyed this year's edition a lot.
I currently have 3 players in BAL, which is for a reason, as they serve different purposes. I have one which I have made to play online, where there are plenty of players who want to play as wide players or strikers. So I have made myself a Xavi/Pirlo-esque midfielder and have devoted my time to giving him the best stats to take set-pieces, run for 90 minutes and tackle succesfully. To make him as good as possible as quick as possible I played 5min matches on beginner (I know, I know), which is utterly boring but the idea was to get him playing every game at the best teams in order to make him as good as possible to take him online with.
My second fella is my challenging one, I made him a SS and play him on 5min matches on Super Star difficulty. I got a decent combination of stats and Indexes when I created him (88 Kick Power, 85 Body Balance, 79 Shot Acc and Fox in the Box, Speed Merchant, 1-touch-play and Side-stepping Indexes) although his OVR was only 58, after 3 seasons he is on 73 OVR and I am now at Real Madrid (the team with the highest training points).
My third player is essentially me, my height, my weight(ish) and my position (CF). I play him on 10min matches on Super Star to make it challanging but ultimately my aim is to enjoy playing with him with no other agenda that enjoyment.
The reason I posted this is that the way I look to build a player completely changes according to what they will be used for. For me I find that defending is the hardest part of playing on PES 2012, however I think I can do a better job of it than most online so I built a character who would do well at it. For me, position myself well and timing are the most important aspects of defending so my online player is devoted to training to gain better stats in defence, body balance, responsiveness and stamina. Speed would also be good but he started very low, as passing seems to be trained at most of the big clubs he now has amazing passing stats also.
My focus on my other characters is completely different and therefore I was wondering what each of you find to be the essential statistics to make you players the most 'playable' for you.

I have come to the sad decision to stop playing this years Be a Legend. Having played the mode since it first became part of the game and really enjoying it, this year the fun has gone.

I was 2 and a half years into my career. Started at West Ham ( In the Anglo Celt League from Goalgerd`s optionfile). Their tactics were quite defensive so I did not expect many goals from the team – However to only score 30 goals in both seasons is ridiculous.

At the start of my third season I joined Rangers. They were last season’s top goal scorers in the league and their tactics are quite offensive. Was amazed to see Rangers then not score for 4 out of my first 5 games against beatable opposition! To rub salt in the wound, West Ham, who in the preseason sold many of their best players, have got 17 goals in their first 5 games!! This is crazy. It seems whatever team I am playing in really struggles to score. I know I am being cheated as if I happen to be suspended or not playing in a match my team score 3-4 goals in the text only presentation of the match!!

This is clearly a flaw. I have tried playing on Superstar level for the majority of the time but also tested this on Top Player and Professional to the same effect.

It`s really disappointing as I love this mode in the game but looks like this year I`ll have to give it a miss. I am not slating the game as a whole, as am enjoying playing online and vs. mates 1 on 1 as the gameplay has much improved for this year`s version, it’s such a shame though that Be a Legend is fooked.

Has anyone else experienced this frustration?

Has anyone started a new game since the latest patch was released? Are there any noticeable improvements to this mode? Kinda hoping to be able to start again

First season. Did alright for Norwich, transferred to Kaiserslauten mid season, scored a goal a game, called up to Belgian squad for Euro Championships, top goal scorer, player of the tournament at age 17! Two weeks later agent says "Kaiserslauten have withdrawn their contract offer, you've got this one game to get another club to want you". Scored twice, set-up another, subbed at 60 minutes, rating of 7.5. Result? Game Over. What is the point in PES 2012? someone please tell me

Have got the game yesterday I cannot hid my disappointment. Started as an all-rounder CAM at Heracles Almelo with a 66 starting OVR, playing at top player. Constant problem I find is defending: every opponent I face defends like a pack of dogs and you've barely got anytime to do anything when you receive the ball before they've nicked it from you. My defence however is all over the place, giving opposition all the space in the world &, a few times this has happened, one ofmy defenders has Ben literally nose to nose with an attacker with the ball and not doing anything except backing up...

If this is Konami's attempt at competing with FIFA's virtual pro then they might aswell extend the white flag of surrender

Sounds absolutely ridiculous. I personally enjoy BAL this year, and i certainly don't hope this happens for me since it would have been a waste of time playing it.

About the defending stuff... I find very useful pressing the X button (I play the PC version with a 360 controller) the X button help to make press against the CPU players (most of all, who have the ball). i.e. Right now I'm on Ligue 1 (the player is fully based on me, even facial features xD); I play on Girondins de Bourdeaux, Centre Midfield/AMF, when the rival passes on me with the ball, I keep pressing X then my team defenders quickly start to press hard to the holder (and the possible companion who they have).

Having completed the first season i enjoy this years BAL. Teammate AI still frustrating, but when you get indespensable to the club fortunately they start passing to you like mad men :)
Season 1: RKC Waalwijk. AMF. 12 goals in 25 appearances.

season 2: now i play for PSV. I "received" the offer after having my agent contacting them. I found it frustrating that no clubs contacted me after the first season, since i played a great part in the clubs achievements especially a place in the final in the cup. I had my agent contact both Ajax and PSV and PSV returned with a contract offer.
I REALLY don't hope this is the general way to get offers from clubs, since it would be insanely unrealistic.
Anyway - still enjoying the game, and after having only played 5 games for PSV aged 18 i've got messages before the matches such as: "our attacking play depends on you this match" or "you control our attacking pace etc".
It's nice, all though to be fair it is maybe a bit too early for them to give a player such responsibility :)

Just joined manutd in the january window and done really well scoring 23 goals in 25 games in just half a season! and thought that was really good. For that i was made captain for the next season :).

^ Nice job. I was wondering if it was possible to become the captain of a team not only by playing the same position as the captain and push him out on the bench :)

- Regarding club offers: Is it even possible to receive any without having your agent contacting the club first?

Can you start with decent strength and speed, or are they ignoring players like Rooney, Micah Richards, Victor Anichebe, Balotelli, Sturridge etc? All of these players came through the youth systems with speed and strength, why is it always one or the other?

To be fair, those players you listed had crap strength when they were 17 years of age. I've never ever started of with decent strength and speed but the closest I became was when I chose the powerhouse

I wouldn't say that, anyway, I started when I first got the game, ss, cant remember what mould, but I had 66 overall, 83/84 shot accuracy, 77 top speed, but a pathetic 64 Body Balance. Long Range card.

I played for Cesena for half a season, then went to Malaga where I won the Champions League and was made captain after half a season. I had quite a break from it then for Master League after I moved to Juventus but that was a dreadful experience, so went to Bolton for the 2013/14 season, had a great time there, finished 4th, scored about 23 goals and 12 assists then got my first call up just in time for the world cup - which I won with England. I just moved to Barca, I am now 72 overall, age 20, have learned CF (from Bolton), but now I have hit the wall. I just can't be bothered with it. Maybe that's just what I needed to get back into Master League.

It gets boring after you master BAL. I'm not finding it boring as I'm struggling to even get an assist in a game nevertheless a goal. In my 15 appearances for newcastle, rated 70, I've scored 1 with 2 assists but I guess thats realistic for a 17 year ols
