After last years shambles, I didn't buy the game yet and just pirated it to see if was any good. I like to play online so, if the game is good I'd end up buying it anyway.
So start with an offline ML, like many people do. Pick random team with the ML default team. Where the hell are the old default players gone?? And why are the names of the new default players so stupid it makes them hard to remember, I'm thinking did this "Gazawackermankski" have a good game last time out or was it the other DMF? Get Jaric, Ettori and Shimizu back.
Had a few matches on Top Player and got beat in all of them. The first match I battered the opponent for 90mins but they had a cat in net and they got a break away goal in the last seconds of stoppage time, then ofc like PeS last year, once you kick off it's full time. They had 1 shot btw, and scored it with the last kick of the game. Next game similar shit, although they had 1 or 2 shots they score a freekick in stoppage time from about 30 yards out which sails into the top corner. I kick off and it's full time. So Scripting is back then.
They have improved the passing, I'll give them that. It was awful last year and it was something that needed improving. But defending which wasn't too bad last year has had an overhaul, you have to time your tackles now and do that hold up the ball stuff which is fine but why can there players who are D2 players skip past your defence with ease but soon as I get the ball in the attacking third, they can tackle me so easily. Konami all over again, things that worked they change. Every year they try and reinvent the game, where Fifa makes improvements to a game that works already.
Then there's this boots and items system, what the fuck is that? I equip players with items in slots to improve the player like an MMO, I'm not playing World of Warcraft, it's a football sim.
PES 2013 has had good reviews somehow. I think it's worse than last year.
The menus are dull, ML has had crap put into it we don't need, defending and tackling has changed for the worse, commentary is a joke, the game and crowd sounds are lifeless, animation is robotic and scripting is back in full force.
What a piece of crap Konami has put out. A franchise I used to buy every year without fail, that once showed signs of improving has just gone backwards once more.
I hate Fifa, I tried playing it last year and never got that buzz you get from scoring like you do in PES. But Fifa works and PES doesn't.
Glad I pirated it to try it out rather than wasting my money.
