It's taken my team about 4 seasons to start clicking, was wondering if it was ever going to happen. The average rating of my team is about 75 now, but passes are sticking better, I'm winning my fair share of headers even while defending corners :w00t and I can actually put lower teams under constant pressure.
I usually play very defensive as I used to get hit on the break a great deal and with my sub par defence any striker with a bit of pace would punish them. Against Arsenal away I was constantly under the cosh but held on for a 0-0 draw which I was happy with. The games I was winning where usually 1-0, 2-1, rarely by more than 1 goal.
But playing at home against Chelsea, using my same old same old, defend like mad and see what I can pick up on the break, I went 1-0 down from a thunderbolt by Mata just before the break. Half time had a cuppa tea, coz that's what us English do to think things over. And thought balls to it, I'm going to have a go at them.
Pushing my wingers further forward pulling my AMF back into a CMF area and changing my DMF into a CMF to fill the gap in the middle of the park making my formation more 4-2-2-2, with 2 high wingers, from my 4-1-3-2.
Soon as I got the ball after Chelsea kicked off, I was giving the ball to Ettori, to try and feed the wingers Shimizu on the right and Jarvis on the left, but rather than holding the ball up on the wings and using safe passes to players outside the box, I'm using R1 and RT to use a change of pace and have a go at the full backs, getting in crosses when I can. When the ball does get into the middle of the park I'm even using Ettori to have a run at the back line, trying to feed in though balls or just get into the box for a shot.
I had Chelsea on the back foot for the whole second half but wasn't able to equalise, but I gave them a hell of a game.
After full time I was close to shouting at myself, "That's how you play, from now on that's how you play!"
My next game was Everton away, using a similar albeit not as gung-ho tactics, I battered them 3-0 and it could have been 8-0.
I guess my point is, I got so used to having a crap team, and defending like mad because everybody was better than me, I didn't realise that my team was good enough and had forgot how to attack.
