Why can I not gain stamina/attributes or change my number in BAL? 18 games in.

How do you change your number in BAL and how does attribute progression work? I've have 100% focus points in stamina and after 14 games, I haven't went up a point. I sub out at halftime, every game.

Brand new to PES, made the switch from Arcade FIFA. I have played 2 games of become a legend and haven't seen a single foul. Unless there's a goal or the ball goes out of bounds, there's no stoppages. I really hope I have some weird settings or something bc I was looking for SIM soccer.
