I've tried all sorts of solutions for the slowdown and only one of them worked for me... disabling the sound card. Without the soundcard the game runs at 1280x1024 (windowed) at high details with absolutely no slowdown at all. But this isn't really the answer, because the sound is important. But...

How do you hit soft, placed penalties? I'm only playing the demo so I would have only had about 3 or 4 penalties so far. But even when I tap the shoot button very quickly the penalty is still shot like a rocket. I tried pressing other buttons but they didn't work. :(
