Balanced leaves your players stats unchanged. Technique would increase ball control and passing/shooting I guess. Speed should be obvious as the whole game seems to get faster, even my "balanced" team. Teamplay would improve positioning and tactical discipline I guess.

I have the feeling that the online experience is getting worse and worse. When I once had a lag-free enjoyable match I get a slow sluggish one where my players seem to be so much less responsive and sometimes they are very obviously making these lag-dependent physics faults which was not when...
