480p = PS2 on steroids

I have mentioned this before on PES 2010 Discussion...

I can't play PES 2011 on my HD TV on the 1080p setting!!!!
I have tried it so many times but I just don't like it!

Please will someone else try the following and back my opinion????
Set your XBox or PS3 to 480p in the display settings, then set your viewing aspect to 4:3 rather than 16:9. The screen will appear stretched, but that's normal.

Then play a game, the players appear a bit stretched, but again this is normal.

But the game play is amazing. It seems faster and even the shooting seems quicker and better! Almost like the PS2 versions of old but better graphics.

Please let me know your thoughts?

i play on a 4:3 "fat" screen, and I can definitly say there's a huge differnce in game speed. HD seems a lot slower.

I must admit I thought it was in your head so I tried iy on my 360 and shit man you are right!

THANK YOU!!!
I Suggest others try this too... You'll never go back to 1080p.

I have to say, once you adjust the Aspect Ratio to 4:3 on the xBox / PS3, make sure the TV stretches the picture to fill the screen.

:D

720p(16:9), rgb or source setting for hdmi I think is the best way to go. Try and collaborate your tv's colour settings this makes the game look even better, playing with broadcast camera and these settings look excellent. -2 is the perfect speed for this game.

Believe me, I have tried playing on different speeds. But the players still look like they're running on Jelly but just faster.

Honestly, please, please try this... you will see a vast difference in the game-play, and it feels like the PS2 version but better.

If you don't like it, that's okay. But I just want people to see the difference.

Sorry dude but you are completely wrong.

Whether you play it at 480p, 720p or whatever, the game is the same, it's just going to be displayed differently. All you're doing is distorting the picture to make it look like it's going faster, when it's going the same speed, but the distance is stretched to look longer.

Let me explain:

- You're taking a game that runs native at 16:9 aspect ratio.
- Then you're forcing it to run at 480p, 4:3 aspect ratio.
- Then you're forcing your TV to stretch that 4:3 image to fill your 16:9 screen

so when something moves across the screen it looks faster but it's not. it's moving the same speed but your image is distorted to be stretched wider making it look longer. that's why it looks faster. the object is moving the same speed but on your distorted image it looks like he's traveling further than he is.

please, please... think about something before you declare it to be so. this is why there is so much shit info on the internet.

honestly.. this is so completely retarded i can't even describe it. THE GAME HAS A FREAKING SPEED SETTING.

instead of using the actual, built-in speed adjustment, you go for a placebo that doesn't even change the speed of the game at all but instead distorts the image and downgrades the quality and then say it's like a PS2 on steroids.

Thank you for your opinion. I understand the logic behind what you're saying... But my point is, I prefer playing the game this way. It feels like PS2 version but with better graphics. Some people (not all) would prefer this.
