A question on defending through balls

I know many people have complained about it but this through ball thing is getting me crazy...whenever I play MLO against a guy who has CR7, Martins or Van der ####...I control the game and he does absolutely nothing but send a through ball to score easily...

NOW MY QUESTION IS...

Why does the opponent's player (CR7 usually) always sprint towards the goal and so he easily receives the through ball?

and..when I try to do it my striker is always standing still between three defenders and there is usually a marker with him to block my through?

I tried everything, man marking, sweeper, three center halves, zero defensive line and nothing works...any advice?

I feel there is something to do with the player support settings

One, because Ronnie has high body balance and speed stats, so it's hard to put pressure on him.

Two, they know how to put good timing to execute teammate control (R3 button) on CR7. So when he starts to run forward, make sure your defenders are not late to cover him. If the player who do the pass has some space to deliver the through pass, then bye bye baby.

This kind of situation can happen in less than two seconds, so ability to predict where the ball will move is crucial. Well, once you clock hours upon hours, it should be easier to read the match.

My own solution:
Put one or two man marker on a beast striker like Ronnie.
Learn how to apply a manual offside trap (pressing left d-pad on default setting)
Set offside trap to On
If he can still manage to slip through on the side field, learn to switch cursor manually to a better placed defender using right stick (but if he slips on the midfield, set your prayer high)

My solution is not 100% fool proof, takes a good chunk of training. There are so many variables involved, just like real football. This is why I love this game, playing football like a chess.

First, many thanks for your help mate...

But I don't think that they manually use the R3 button to let him run forward because he is not highlighted with a red or blue color when he makes the run.

And about my prediction, I can tell you that I am always 100% sure where the long ball will be played, yet I fail to control my last defender to collect it! Even when I use the L3 button, it usually selects the wrong player and it becomes too late:)

I'll try the offside thing though
