Any tips/faqs for off the field club management/development?

Hi, just started my ML campaign using Stoke City with the regular roster. My goal is to eventually turn it into a Euro champ within 5 years or so. Its been a couple years since I played Pro Evo so I'm a little rusty and the ML has gotten a lot more complicated.

Do you have any tips for what I should be doing off the pitch to achieve my goal? Should I hire coaches, scouts etc? When should I do that? I'm about 12 games into my first season in the EPL. Didn't get any new players cause I usually just play the first season without getting anyone and then address all my needs/wants in the offseason.

Should I be doing that differently? Are there thing I should do in the mid season transfer period?

is invetsting in the youth team or fan club important? I don't really want to employ any fake players so I don't really care about the youth team. Should I care? Is it worth investing in the youth team if all you want to do is sell those players eventually?

Also, is there a detailed way to see your player's growth? All I can find is a graph that shows the entire 2011 season in a very tiny line. When I used to play Pro Evo you could watch after every game played to see how your players' stats went up/down in every category. I'm having a hard time figuring out player development in this version.

I checked out the young player thread so I know some guys to go after. Are there any free agents worth signing? I remember from the old game you could always find some good players who were free agents and didn't require a transfer fee.

Well, you should probably be scouting and bidding for players all year round, negotiations takes a while in this version. Put your spots on the scoutlist and in a couple of weeks you'll have information about stats and the possibilities of a succesful bid. If it says 'chances are zero', don't bother with that player. And keep a eye on the transferlist regurlarly. Also, in the second half of the season you should do a advanced search for players with contract periods 1-1, and then look for any who might have 'put their negotiations on hold'. Theese will be free to sign.

I prefer to have level 5 coach, atlethic coach and scout. The other two, goalkeeper and doctor, i find to be less important - could go with a level 1 to save money. But having the first three on level 5, or as high as you can afford, will give your players the best form and chances of development. Also, a certain level 5 scout enables you to see players stats instant. Really makes scouting much easier.

The development will come, just wait for it. When your players stats starts to go up you will get a message about it after each game. Usually happens for me after 10-25, but depends on the quality of your staff and players. If you don't like fake players, then don't bother with the youth team. It's cheaper to just scout for really young players.

Oh, and keep an eye on your finances; it really sucks to have the club release players to afford salaries.

God luck.
