Are we in control of passing/crossing?

Just read a review where the author said you are no longer in control of things like passing and crossing... "gameplay as it was on rails", he said.

"just push the button and nothing else"

It doesn't sound very good, but I thought on pes2010 that we would be able to dictate play more, e.g. you can now put cross where you want all over the field, not just horizontal/vertical. I thought we even could add spin to crosses for example.

Can anyone clarify this?

None of the pes games had that. Just press a button and the pass goes according to plan is a stupid comment.
Whenever I press X or A alone the pass never goes according to plan. You are the one to press the direction of the pass, otherwise no target hitting. Same goes for shooting.

imo pes lets itself down in these areas..

btw pes looks god beautiful compared to fifa...but meh

The crossing on fifa is terrible (possibly me) the ball always goes straight including corners, but the rest of the passing in manual beats PES, but the manual stick in PES is better still.

well except that it requires u to use the stick to do it...

the crossing in fifa is good that a cross doesnt always = a goal... wheras in PES:/

Well manual passing is i guess? cause it literally goes exactly in the direction you point. Allthough i have not used it that much so i cant get the power gauge down properly hah

No manual long passes option (TYPE 5 etc..) anymore... you can only send the exact long passes as you wished by using right analog stick.. but for CROSSES it is almost automatic.. 1 tap - high 2 taps medium 3 taps from floor.. also no need to press L1 before crossing, only long pass button is enough unless you are not using an early cross...
