"attacking arrows" in team strategy

Another question :

when editing a formation/strategy, u can put up to 2 directionnal arrows on a player

what do they exactly do ?
how do you use them ?

for example, in a formation from left to right, if my attacker has an arrow on the right i imagine he will try to run deep in the defense and ask for the ball

what if i put and arrow on the right and on the left ?
he will try to go deep in the defense and then come back close to my midfielders if it doesnt work ?

cant understand =/

because you can see complex team strategies when going to Quick Settings / Side Attack for example
i would like to know exactly what these arrows do
thx

Can you set one arrow to the left and one to the right ?
If yes then simply your player will move more often forward than without an arrow, and sometimes even back. If you don´t assign any arrows for him he´ll behave normal, if you put the arrow eg down he will be focussed to run down more often.

do you use them a lot in your strategy ?

my aim is to create "nice" counter attacks and center attacks
i have lots of problems doing something else than going to the wings, center and head

(maybe i suck too, but i was quite addict to PES2 and it wasnt so difficult to do center attacks, anyway, since its hard, its a good challenge ;) )

wing men

If your wingers are being closed down on the wings try having one arrow only and have them attack towards the goal. EG - if you're attacking from left to right put the right wingers attack arrow on top right. This is a good strategy to change during the game as it may catch the opposition defense unawares if your have been attacking down the wings, it suddenly concentrates your attack through the middle. Also, try having two central midfielders deep (with defense set high) and two wingers 0.5cm beyond the halfway line (def-normal). If you hold the ball and be patient the midfielders will find space in the middle of the park and you can move the ball accross the pitch and create space for an overlap on the wings or go for the through ball from the midfielder to the forward. Hope this helps. Number one tip dont be afraid to hold the ball until the right chance emerges, go back if needs be. Let me know how you go, see if this works for you too. Leave all other arrows blank. and all other defense on normal apart from the two CB's (high)
