Awful Dreadful Game

I used to love PES but gave up on it when PES2008 was such a mess. I bought PES2011 as it was cheap and i can see why, this game still has the same fristrating bugs as PES1.

Players i am supposed to be in control of will sprint full pelt to chase a ball going out after the oppostition kicked clear, i cant stop him running after the ball and he tries to control it on the touchline giving the throw to the opposition. WTF, just leave it go out or let me control him ffs.

Defenders just stand and watch as the midfielders play through balls putting the opposition clean through. Clean, very good looking slide takles are peanalised as a free kick or pen, theres a lag when you take control of a player giving the oppisition time to get passed you. This game is fecked.

I press slide tackle when im in control of a player only for the Ai to select a different player on another part of the pitch and the command is carried out by him.

You can no longer takle using the X button, does nothing. Slide talking doesnot work as you get penalised. You can win the ball then if the person you are takling falls over you they get a free kick.

There are so many issues i cant be aresed to go into. Very dissappointed, another year without a decent footy game.

OK, the game clearly have a few minor issues, but you clearly don't even know what the buttons do, and seem unable to define your own buttons... seriously, learn to play before you complain.

I'm in love with PES 2011, even if does make me want to gouge my own eyes out with a fork from time to time.

This is the deepest PES game of all time, but also one of the most infuriating so I can understand people's frustration despite my love for the game.

I discover something new every week with this game.

I would say however some of the flaws in this game are mind numbingly illogical.

OP if you dont like the game fair enough mate, but if you stick with it you may find some joy, and yeh the player select is a travesty at times and is almost used as a balancing act. For pes 2012 we have to have a fully working manual player switch, we had it in PES 1 so logic states we should have it over 10 years later.

Press the trigger buttons. Provided you haven't changed what each trigger does, it should cancel a player running after a ball.

Hold Square (PS3) or X (Xbox) for the computer to send the closest player toward the ball to apply pressure. In this situation I've found, if I do it properly, my play will more than likely intercept the ball. OR you could just hold Square/X down constantly, and you take control of a player further back. Move him into an open slot that you think the opponent will pass through.

That is my biggest gripe with the game, you just need to be quicker than the assist

X / A will send the player you control after the ball, and apply pressure on the opponent. This essentially makes it easier for you to chase an opponent down. If you do it right, you can release X / A and dash forward and intercept the ball as it's moving.

Yeah cos thats helpful, dont you just love fan boys. Its not that im crap at the game, some of the bugs are inexcusable. Why the feck does a player i am in control of run for a ball thats going out of play when i am telling him to go in the other direction. It so basic its laughable.

I dont see why you should have to press super cancel to stop a player you are supposed to be in control off though. There are so many little bugs like this, its just unreal, dont they playtest their own game or what. If they ironed out all these little issues the game would be great like it was in the old days. Oh and finally sort out some decent commentary too.

Well, what a difference something like super cancel can make to the gameplay. Most of my frustrations with the game have gone with one simple command. Thank you for the tips guys, i am enjoying this game on a whole new level now. Top guys, cheers.

The dude who made this thread is spot on, he probably does not suck at the game, I do not suck at the game and I agree with him on everything he said.

Seriously, grow up, anyone can criticize a rubbish video game as he sees fit, and it is a legit argument just as long as the argument is based on objective factors that have nothing to do with the ability of the user.

The person who made this thread was simply talking about a video game, he did not attacked a single person, you feel sorry for him because according to you he must suck at the game, I feel sorry for you because you actually insulted a person over a video game and because your argument is bullshit.

I mastered PES11 very quickly, I was very good at the game, and I fully agree with the person who created this thread.

Yes this is annoying combined with the terrible player select thing.You just have to prepare for the through ball earlier by selecting the defender because you leave it too late your player is just going to admire the pass.

The standard tackle is perfectly fine i don't see the problem with it.Maybe playing to much fifa huh?

It's just that PES have lately published the least craptastic game of the two rivals, and that is why I am playing PES.

I will give you a tip though, no games that involve AI or elements of simulation is "good" unless you mod, tweak and pamper it. PES is no different. You have three choices, you can 1. do nothing, 2. download a patch that has tweaked everything for you and 3. try to tweak it yourself.

You, however, did not even seem to be aware of the difference between a game weakness and your own inadequacy.

Have it ever occured to you that "assisted player switch" would result in this from time to time? no? well it does, so change it to semi assisted or unassisted and it will NEVER happen.

And to the guy who said about super cancel, yes i knew it was there but always thought it was for cancelling a pass or shot that has not been made yet. I didnt realise you can use to cancel a players movements that the CPU always seems to want to control.

God some people on this forum are nut jobs, seriously its just a game, not everyone will like it so stop acting like the PES forum police, your worse than the sony defence force scum on the PS3 forums.

I guess you fell asleep when you tried figuring out what the buttons actually did too, because the pressure button is quite simply pressure, and a tackle when you release it if you time it well. I guess you have already figured out the sliding tackle button... it's probably the one you will be sticking with anyway.

Maybe that is why I like EA NHL so much. They carry it over to all games.

you need to calm down. really overacting and coming across as a pansy. you make it sound like it's the worst pes ever made when it is one of the best. you really are a noob for not knowing about super cancel. cant believe you used to play it before 2008:no:

Like i said there really are some idiots on this forum. Apologies for insulting your beloved game.

A few other issues that are highly annoying:

1. even the fastest players can't outrun defenders.

2. the ridiculous volley attempts on corner kick rebounds.

3. players stay offside for seconds which significantly limits attacking options & sometimes the game registers a pass to another player as a pass to an offside player.

4. Players running a semi-circle around the ball before controlling it thus breaking up the flow of play.


All of these are so common that I can easily provide video proof within a few hours if needed.
If someone has a solution for any of these issues, please enlighten me.
