Back-up PES5 problems with DVD Decrypter

Hi,

I have just installed Swap Magic 3.6 and the associated the Swap tool on my slimline PS2. I followed the instructions on using DVD Decrypter and made a back-up of PES5. When I run Swap Magic and then load the disk it appears to start Ok. Unfortunately it takes an age to get past the first PES5 screen, and it takes about 20 minutes to load the game. Then when you try to actually start playing the controller does not respond. Any clues or hints as to the problem? I would prefer not to make any more DVD coasters!
NB. I have used DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink for a long time for my films and never had a problem. Is there something specific to PES5 that I need to do? I suppose there is no point trying a patch if I can't even run the original back-up.
From the tutorial info it suggests trying with DVD+Rs. I haven't got any at the moment. But does the above behaviour sound like this could be the cause? NB. I always burn on the slowest speed available.

Make sure you are using good quality DVD-r's such as Ridisc etc. It sounds like your PS2/Swap Magic is working properly as it would'nt get as far as the title screen if it wasn't.

Make sure you burn at x4, no higher, no lower and use Ritek Ridisc or Maxell DVD-rs. You can even use Sony DVD-RW's (if you can find them) for this sort of this as I do and then when you update a patch (i.e change a kit or ball etc) then you just burn a new copy over the old one.
