BAL mode, multiple play positions

in BAL mode, is there a way to train your player to play well in more than one position on the field? ie WF, SMF, AMF, SS etc

anyone know?

Not sure, but I think it just comes naturally, or by the manager playing you in that position, ask Gaffa, his player can play like anywhere in midfield.

If you start off as a CMF for example... And you join a team who have only SMF available, you will gain that position after playing there for a while... Same goes for other positions. I started as a AMF, and the teams I joined didn't best suit my position so I was getting played as DMF or CMF... When I joined Liverpool, If I came off the bench, they would play me CF, if I started they would play me DMF or CMF... So it all depends on the team you choose to join...

Also, you can't pick and choose what position you want to play for a match, or hint at the manager... You play wherever he puts you I'm afraid.

I think it comes if your manager plays you on positions youre not already familar with. Like, if you pick WF for your player - not many teams play this, so youll get played in positions close to this (SMF, SS and AMF - after getting used to AMF you might get played in CM too (might even get played in CM earlier)). I dont think theres any way to pick them up by yourself - I picked CM for my player and Im getting played there every game, so I dont learn any of the others.

Gaffa beat me to it. ^^ You should however notice, that the positions the team will play you in is noted in the contract - Im not sure if the teams actually stick to that all the time, but so far Ive picked contract which said Id only be played as CMF and it has been true untill now.

Well when I joined Liverpool, they only offered me SMF... But, I never once played there lol... It was either DMF/CMF or CF. I could be going to deep into it again, so please forgive me... But, What about the rating system? It shows where you was on the pitch over a course of time. Now what if the manager picks up on where you played better? Also, now with AC Milan, they always play me AMF, but they chop and change me as I can play almost everywhere

Yeah I got offers from Stoke, Man City & Sunderland. Stoke & Sunderland offered my the position of SMF, but Man City offered both SMF & AMF. Apart from being the better team, that's also why I chose them. I'd rather play AMF than SMF. So far when I've come on off the bench I've played CMF or DMF, but when I've started games I've been in AMF so I'm happy

my guy is a AMF but when he was playing for Villa they kept me playing CMF, and eventually i developed CMF as my secondary position.

Soon after I transferred to Everton and they have me playing AMF. I got called up to the Brazillian squad and they play me at DMF.... weird. I don't mind it though, jack of all trades master of none.

Just thought I'd share a trick that works because I've tested it myself is... Some might know about this, but others wont.

Go into the edit mode (this is not a cheat BTW!) then select the team that you would like to settle at and change their formation. If you want to play as a WF then make sure the formation you make has a WF position, same goes with other positions...

I know this works because I edited the England and Liverpool formation to save me doing it online, then when I looked, the AI use it! They might change the formation at different times in a match, but they always start with the same formation.

I think there's only one problem with this though... You might have to restart the BAL for the formation to take effect. I edited mine before I started BAL.
