For me, it has to be Geoff Crammond’s Grand Prix.
Geoff Crammond's
I think this sums up the fourth installment quite well
F1 World Grand Prix
F1 World Grand Prix on the N64 was excellent. The challenges based on situations that had happened in real life were brilliant, something I’d like to see in the games today. E.g. I remember there was one at Imola where you had to race the last few laps as David Coulthard, having to limit your RPM, stay ahead of Michael Schumacher and win the race.
EA's F1
EA’s F1 games just didn’t seem to change over the years – simply updating the teams and drivers for the new season, which was already half way through in real life. F1 2002 had one of those terrible, unrewarding endings. I mean, I don’t know what exactly I could expect to get for completing an F1 game – but after winning I don’t know how many races and completing all the various challenges, getting F1 cars racing around a track and ‘Congratulations’ fly across the screen in several different languages didn’t exactly give me a feeling that it was all worth it.
But I guess that’s what makes Geoff Crammond’s series so great – un-arcadey and realistic. A true racing simulator.
Sony's Formula One
Sony’s games were/are a lot more realistic than EAs but seemed to have a very short appeal for me. I don’t know if it was just because of the decline of the sport in real life, and deteriorating interest. Most probably.
Anybody heard anything about a new F1 game/next in the series?

Breathtakingly realistic, stunningly detailed and endlessly exhilarating, Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix 4 has arrived on PC, taking this now legendary series to new heights.
