Big Playstation Plus update

Ok, just thought i'd share this in a seperate thread in case there is any interest. Basically PS+, the subscription based online service from Sony will from tomorrow see an overhaul in the content they are offering.

Previously Sony were giving subscribers good discounts, free mini's, some free PS2 games etc, but they have now decided that what people want are actually free PS3 games.

As of 6th June 2012 three tiers of free games will be available:

Playstation Plus Game of The Month - Changing every 4 weeks this title will be something new and fresh to the PSN store

Initial Game

Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown

Playstation Plus Games Catalogue - A group of 6 games that are on a cycle, with two new games being swapped in/out every 4 weeks, so you always have 6 titles to download. New games from July will be available for 12 weeks.

Chime Super Deluxe
Darksiders
Renegade Ops
Outland
Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD

52 week titles - 3 titles sourced from some of the biggest PS brands. These are available to download over the course of the year.

So, last week I subscribed for £11.99 for three months. Straight away I downloaded Max Payne PS2 classic and a great mini for my vita called Velocity. These are free for me to keep and play as long as I subscribe (cancel and you have to buy to play, but resub at any time and they're yours free again) and then from tomorrow I can download 10 PS3 titles and then add 3 new titles a month to this collection, and play and keep for as long as I subscribe.

Colour me impressed, there are at least 5 games I will definitely be downloading, so I think i'll be renewing in 3 months time. Time to invest in a new HDD for my PS3.

For those that are interested (ie no-one) the games are now up for download. I might just use this thread as a personal wank space to past what i think of my freebies.

Outland

A gorgeous 2D platform adventure that is equal parts prince of Persia, Metroid and Ikaruga. A great light and dark system, bullet hell and great art style. Played the first 6 levels and the difficulty is ramping up nicely.
