Bring on PES6 before I throw my playstation out of the window

I know people will hate me for this, but I think the PES series has been tarnished by PES5. Number 5 has severly tested my loyalty towards the series as a whole and forced me to consider rejoining the FIFA support.

I think the gameplay has gone majorly downhill, what was once an enjoyable free flowing game has now become quite poor.

This is mainly caused by the referees, it is now impossible to run near an oposition player who has the ball as they will fall over and recieve a complimentry free kick. The computers players appear to be able to get away with almost anything to rub in how biased the referees are. If two players are running together for the ball, you know that the computer controlled player will hit the ground and get a free kick. In fact, if you have the ball and a computer player runs after you, when you turn away from them often they fall over and get a free kick. The game is so broken up by these constant fouls that it is now rare to get some nice flowing movement going.

Supposably fast players such as Thierry Henry or Obafemi Martins are outran by unknown 34 year old central defenders regularly??? I definately dont understand this.

Players after match ratings are rarely more than a 7.5. I beat Madrid 3-0 with Arsenal on 6 star and lehamann got a 5.5 despite facing countless shots and not conceding once, the strange part was that Casillas got a 5.5 also despite conceding 3?

The lobbed through ball has very rarely worked for me on this game, the ball is kicked about 30 yards too far in front of the player then picks up speed once it hits the ground. Almost guarenteed to reach the keeper every time.

The first touch is pathetic, from supposed proffesional footballers. If Ronaldinho took touches half as bad as he seems to on PES5 then I have no doubt he would be playing for forest green.

Player stats appear to count for nothing, mediocre computer controlled players manage to hit the target every time whilst world class human controlled players always appear to just miss the target.

I severly hate this game!

Overall I am just praying that PES6 will rectify these problems. Bring it on!!!

I think Konami had based the refereeing on all teams playing against Juventus, as the referees do seem like they've taken a back-hander. Well done for spotting this, I'm sure you're one of the first...

EDIT: Just had a thought, it would be quite cool, if in master league mode you could bribe the ref before the match. Anyone agree? Anyone? Guys?

lol i gotta agree the rating system sucks some severe ass.

You can outrun people though you just can't blow past them like you used to. You have to have atleast a yard on them to out run defenders

And why are the keepers the quickest players on the game ?

Oh for fuck's sake get good at the game and you'll realise you can have far more free flowing football in this one than you could in the last. I'm sure you're going to tell me you play on seventy-two stars and have beaten world champions but frankly I don't care... the only way I can conceive broken up play is if you're playing against a human opponent who is either crap, or intentionally sitting back/fouling to disrupt your play.

Get good and you'll get over it! Oh and you are by no means the first to notice this...

God not another one of these threads. Like Original says, they always reply with 'I can beat 6* ez and I'm undefeated in the longest time'. How can u be so pro but still complain about so many aspects of the game? How come I never have these problems? How come whenever I use Henry and Eto'o, I'm constantly blowing past defenders? I don't like to be rude but u come here dissing this game leaving me no choice. Stop whining and go play Fifa as apparently Pes is too complicated for u. OR if u wanna be good at Pes, then put some time out to learn the advanced features and u won't ever complain again.

PES5 = best in series, no contest. If you could run past players easily it wouldn't be much of a game would it? Just pass the ball around and get better at it.

Even when PES6 is out I still advise throwing your PS2 out the window and replacing it with an xbox.

I threw my xbox out the window and it killed someone. Piece of junk.

Although WE10/PES6 does improve many of the issues that are commonly complained about, it will create new complaints.

Chipped through balls are higher and more floaty so they are often intercepted by defenders unless you execute it correctly into space.

Referees are much better. But holding square makes the secondary defender do sliding tackles sometimes. Which is mostly from a side that the ref will not appreciate.

And the goalkeepers are absolutely shit and will spill almost every shot, pushing some of them into the goal themselves.

Good. At least my brother will be forced to be more creative in the next game. All he does is send long through passes to EXTREMELY fast WGs. I know what he's gonna do, but it's so hard to defend pace.

Yes but in fairness, if the game is supposed to be taking a 'realistic' style of game than lets be honest, most of the game including the strange hoodoo of fast defenders needs to be sorted out. I agree with you that PES5 is one of the best i've seen in the series, but having said that, little problems needed to be sorted out and running past defenders at lightning speed would take some realism away from the game but hey, strikers are faster than defenders in the first place.

There are twats on this website, thats one thing you are going to have to get used to. All they are trying to tell you is that there have been threads like this before, so if you post in them then you wouldnt have to make a new thread. But then you'll probably get slaughtered for reviving a dead and old thread.

Cheers for the advice mate, I'll keep that in mind.

And thanks Zyg for the info about PES6/WE10

Heh i totally agree with you mate, i take a break from work pick up the game and always end up wanting to break stuff and usually end up hurting myself in one way or another, and yer there are a lot of blind loyal people who dont seem to get it but i can come out of a game after winning 4/5/6 nil and be pissed off that it just messing up every five mins like the computer just couldnt be stopped or the ref blew everytime i touched ther players and yet i get tackled from behing whislt running onto a loose ball and get nothing (my personal favouite is the clean through on goal and get hit from behind resulting in a free kick and no card???). But the game being the game i can go in and win 1-0, draw or even loose and be happy with the way it played its just 70% of the time it screws with your mind. i know its just a game (virtually and reality versions included) but i play because of my love of the sport and at times it just inst the sport i love, previous versions were annoying at times this is just stupid ill give it one more game to improve or ill go back to kickin a ball against a wall ;).

Hehe.. +++

PES5 is the best in the series by a very big longshot IMHO... so far from what I've heard the next version sounds like a step back.

Well before they make this little change, they'll have to do some massive improvements to the AI. People are always bitching that they can't get their dribble on, but for me the biggest problem with PES5 (and it has been just as much a problem in other versions) are the scripting with defenders, and how they don't cover the proper areas or mark up tight enough when it's important. If they changed it like you said we'd just see people blowing by the slow defenders who don't have a normal defender's aggression and positioning/awareness to cope with strikers' speed.

I wish there was a 'mark up the closest man' button or something.

It's not so much the posting as the fact that all the issues can be sorted out by just learning the game. Not even that but that this fact has been pointed out in almost every single one of these countless threads, and I can see why people who ARE good at the game get rather frustrated.
