Button Configuration (Long Pass Mode).

Type 1:
Centers the ball when the player is level with the penalty area or on the side lines. Long passes are performed normally.

Type 2:
Centers the ball when the player is level with the penalty area or on the side lines. Long passes are performed using the manual method.

Type 3:
Centers the ball when the player is level with the penalty area . Long passes are performed normally.

Type 4:
Carried out using the + buttons only. Long passes are performed normally.
Type 5:
Carried out using the + buttons only. Long passes are performed using the manual method.

What is the difference between "Long passes are performed normally." and "Long passes are performed using the manual method.".

Normal vs manual? I don't get it.

In my opinion, normal = the CPU aims the pass for you and manual = you aim the pass yourself. Which is why on Type 1 the pass often goes to a completely different direction to where you are holding the d-pad/LAS (eg you are aiming from central midfield to the right wing and the ball goes to the right back position instead).
