Can I use a X-Link for X-Port files?

I'm just about to buy a Xploder V4 Bundle which also comes with a "X-Link" for £30. It says on the back of the pack that it lets you upload and download Memory Card files exactly like a X-Port. What I want to know is whether I use the X-Port files that everyone uses.
I'm buying it mainly for the PES3 files so if someone could please tell me, you might save me the money if it doesn't work.
