Can someone explain 'stocking' formations to me?

Well here's what I think I know. Stocking is used to store a formation in memory so it can be accessed quickly correct? What's not clear is how to recall those formations within a game.

For example, I'm playing a league game with Italy and find myself down 2 goals. I change my formation to one better suited for attacking, set the quick strategy to all attack, and make some other changes that I feel would help out with attacking. Now I choose the 'stock' option. This brings up a little box with the Italian flag in it with 10 empty boxes below it. This is where the confusion starts. If I click on the Italian flag I can then to choose to copy that formation into one of the empty slots, now does this 'stock' the current formation for use in future games or is it only for the current game?

Another thing, if I stock say three formations over the course of a game how do I switch from stocked formation one to stocked formation three?

Last thing, do these stocked formations get saved from one game to the next or are they reset at the beginning of every match.

I love this game, and as thorough as the instruction manual is it still can't explain this one game facet to me. Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi mr finger :)

Basically, you set your formation and settings as normal and then you can copy and paste your formation into one of the 10 boxes. If you use a box, when you go to formation settings just before your next match, it should automatically load the one you saved in the box. To permanently keep the boxes saved, you save them to your memory card.

the boxes are used to give you different options of formations you've made earlier and saved so that you don't have to spend ages changing it during a game. If you use a 4-4-2 in slot one as your default one, and you go behind, you can think "hmmmm, I need to change it" so you check all the boxes to see what would suit the situation, maybe a 3-4-3 that you saved earlier. And then you copy from the 3-4-3 box and paste it over the box above so that your team will change to play that way. Then you need to consider where your players will be moved to play so keep an eye on that.

To change formation, go to the box below, click X and then go up to the main box and X to paste it.

As long as your PS2 remains on, the formation boxes remain the same but you may need to copy them over to the Away side if you play an away match. Once you turn of the PS2, you lose the saved ones. Unless you saved them onto your mem card, in which case you can just load them again. Hope this has explained it all. Any more questions, just ask.

Building on this, I save a formation away to memory card. Then later create another one I want to save. Despite there appearing to be 10 slots to save formations in, the first one always gets overwritten when I save the second. Any ideas?

Thanks.

JEC, if you want to modify the one you saved to your mem card, I would load it up first and then modify and then save.
Or if it is a new formation totally, you'll have to save it into a new slot in the memory card or else it would overwrite the old one.
