Cant get patched files to work

I tried playing the game after patching. The screen didnt show any playstation 2 sign, or hang in a black screen, instead it went straight to the 2 memory sticks menu.

While i understand if there is a playstation sign and then going blank after that, it could be patching problem, i've not came across my problem, and not seen it mentioned any where.

Any advice?
