I dont see anything impressive with FIFA, same ol, same ol IMO! FIFA 08 was crap, as was Euro2008. EA has yet to reach Konamis status in gameplay, even after last years disaster that was PES08

FIFA 08 was undeniably a better stab at a football sim than PES 2008 was. I never thought much of either, but FIFA08 defo took the crown for all it was worth.

Goddamn. From that video, FIFA09 is looking very crisp indeed. I never cared much for its predecessor becuase of its sluggish unresponsive gameplay but going by that video, FIFA09 is looking very fluid and responsive. I would go as far as saying that it looks like ProEv with loads more animations and gameplay options.

They've ruined the lighting effects by going way overboard. Someone needs to tell them that whether artificial lighting or sunshine, there's no way it would make the pitch bright in the middle and very dark on EACH of the four sides - and in almost equal measure (the two ends and the two touchlines). Darkness on two sides is acceptable, perhaps three at a stretch but not four.

i disagree. after FIFA08 fifa in next gen versions are SIM and PES are arcade

I will have to admit that that video is not bad. The gameplay seems responsive which is a huge plus but....it still seems soo FIFA'ish....wth was the goalie thinking when that ball flew through the air to him? Why did he not just catch it?....and What about french goalie when it went through his legs? Also that little POWRBAR that shows he strong your pass will be...doesnt seem to be working really. I didnt feel the effect of it in EURO 2008 and it doesnt look like it changed much here. Overall impression is "OK" but Seeing some ( not all cuz some are not too good ) videos of PES 2009....FIFA's gameplay still seems a couple of years behind...at least they are going in the right direction. ( bring on the fifa boys who will call me a fanboy )

P.S. Whats up with that stadium? Dark all around and in the middle bright? Never seen that.....

^^^They forgot to turn the lights on or didn't have money to turn them on, as you know now, Fifa will charge for the Adidas something for a weekly update of the rosters, LOL, what if one player gets injure, he wont be able to play, hahahha, and when you play online will you play only with the ones that have the Adidas pack, stupid.

So, to get to my point, they will charge for every light you turn on, LOL.

Plus, the game play looks like the same old Fifa, poor shooting, there's nothing like hitting the ball and scoring a goal in the PES series.

nikicampos, the camera angle used in that video doesnt do the game justice. It makes the players appear too small. I hope you do give fifa 09 a go, maybe borrow it off a friend when it comes out because trust me, it will blow you away.

this is your opinion becouse you dont want searching ways scoring and you like scoring with 4-5 passes in an arcade way that PES has

Gentleman, this is a PES forum is it not? So why all the FIFA interest? I havent enjoyed a FIFA game since 95, the rest have all been same old shit. People were all saying FIFA 08 was a big improvement etc etc but I still found the same idiot things that happen in every FIFA game, the on rails through balls, the stupid crossing, fat potato faced players, unnatural shine to the lighting. PES 2008 was a bit more arcadey, but it wasnt that bad, it seemed more geared towards a game you play with your mates as me and my mate regularly have Evo nights where we have great games with West Ham vs Arsenal, and Lyon vs Bayern amongst others.

Oh and how many times have teams in reality scored in 4-5 passes? or even 2? quite a lot actually so maybe you have a strange view on football.

i am not surprised that FIFA loyal twats enter a PES forum not with general interest, debate but brainwashing methods with no substance...

i used to love FIFA up until about FIFA 2000, and then i tried ISS, never been back, I have tried FIFA with some of my friends (mind you the tosspot flash prick tryhard ones aka fifa fanboys), and gaming sites, magazines especially last 2 yrs make a big fuss and say it changed, its by far superior, IT DIDNT, ITS NOT, beyond a joke now, and for me (just my personal opinion IS TOTALLY UNPLAYABLE) due to a few main and down right silly points...

1. Gameplay (most important thing) is slow, unresponsive and flawed every pass is cut out...
2. Boasting about licensing is a joke as the so called 'licensed leagues' dont even have all the 'licesenced clubs' eg. Serie A and B every year.
4. No reseach, claim to have 10 thousand plus data researchers who have ridiculously incorrect info, no standard bearer in rating totally randomised regardless the players talent in real life not to mention their likeness, in prev games FIFA had skin colour, hair colour wrong on alot of big name players...
5. No Customizing, Edit mode, not only do you guys mess up all the players but you make sure we cant fix em..
6. Stupid unresponsive menus

final verdict: If you aint interested in a real football game, for men not boys, our game fair nuff but stop preaching that god awful bandwagon, fanboy gayme in our forum....

AND YES THIS IS FIFA BASHING 101 ! ! !

cant wait for PES 2009 boys its gonna be awesome.

Before any of the above puts me off FIFA, it won't let me use my PS2 controller via an adapter on the PC - unlike PES and other games which have no issues. I even think I managed a workaround once - only to find one particular direction would not work at all. I can't see FIFA being so much better than PES that I should pay extra money for a new controller, simple as that.

You'd expect PES to be the game which has issues with a PS2 controller on a PC, not FIFA considering they seem to have a significantly bigger team and more money.

if ought id say PES is the arcade game and FIFA trys to recreate an actual match, which at the end of the day nobody wants coz watching a 90 minute game of football is usually the dullest thing ever, unless its a rare thriller. all arcade versions of games are better IMO for example
virtua tennis 3 is better than top spin
race driver grid is better than other driving games
nfl street is better than madden
the only game i can think is an exception is fight night round 3 is more of a boxing sim and crappy prizefighter is arcade, fight night wins everytime!

I totally agree with you. Every time i play fifa i feel restricted and cant seem to get anywhere. Now maybe its because I'm used to PES non-stop action.

90% of the time PES keeps me entertained and thats a selling point for me. I'd say Fifa is around 50/50 depending if my players react at all :p.

PES might be more arcade like but the flow of the game is just as exciting as Argentina scoring on Brazil and watching Brazil go nuts.
