CM03-04 Aggression vs PES Aggression

Hullo, peeps.

Myself and my Pro Evo buddies have recently been using a CM03-04 stat converter on PES3 - with (generally) the players ending up far nearer to their real life counterparts. (In PES, it seems to count for more - stat-wise - if you're famous rather than actually any good . . . Diouf etc. being prime examples of this.)

However, on the Championship Manager converter we're using, we're not convinced it has the 'Aggression' stat right. In PES3, Aggression is explained as 'The higher this value, the more aggressively the player will attack.' This seems to mean (judging by the players who have high scores in this stat) that a high Aggression mean your player will . . . get forward more often, maybe? If that's what it means, (as opposed to Roy Keane or Viera type, get-stuck-in 'proper' aggression) it's not a very well named . . . although, this is PES, afterall, and is notorious for lame-o stuff like that.

Anyhoo, on this CM converter it seems to take 'Aggression' as the snarling. Keane-type - thus screwing up attacking players, and - presumably - making defensive midfielders attack more than they should . . .

My incredibly long-winded question is, then - what the hell does the PES 'Aggression' stat do?

Agggghhhhhh!

Right, I'm off. If anyone stuck with this, thanks.

PS. Anyone else tried converting CM to PES? What converter do you use, etc?

PES aggression is how aggressive they are at attacking....so someone like David Batty who sits in front of the back 4 should have very low aggression, whereas Scholes or someone who bursts into the box should have high aggression.

I do find it amazing though that there is no stat for tackling....one of the most important attributes for any player (except strikers) and there isn't even a stat for it. Ridiculous.

Agression? I think that's the way how players defend, how they put pressure, ... How they keep fighting for every ball. The best exemple: Gattuso

In PES-games Aggression is how much the player gets forward.

In CM-games Aggression is how stuck-in the player gets.

There is no "get stuck-in" equivalent in PES, which is a shame. A ridiculous shame, for which Konami should be blamed.

Thanks, guys. Looks like I'll have to edit my shiny new CM Sheva . . . maybe he'll stop hanging around the centre circle and do something useful (like scoring goals) now.

I agree with you all that it's ridiculous that there's no 'Tackling' stat . . . who the hell made that decision? In general, defensive midfielders and defenders are just like crap attacking midfielders - maybe with better heading and the odd 'Marking' special ability.

Actually, how come there's not even a 'Tackling'-type special ability? All defenders get is Marking and Defensive Line Control, which is pretty lame.

Hopefully they'll sort it out in the next game.

That, and the fact that (as I pointed out) only famous players are any good. I play as Milan and Liverpool, usually, but players like Hamann, Murphy, Ambrosini and Gattuso (all good players - while Hamann is one of the best at what he does in the world) are so crap I'd never give them a game. (Although, I have edited them suitably.)

Well, again; thanks all.

If you give Hamann high "Defence" he'll play well. He bases his game around being positioned well, allowing him to do things simply. Defence stats in the 90's tend to position players well.

That's the problem with PES-games, the mental side of things is not represented too well.

i dont know, i've found that high aggression for defensive players makes them better defensive players as well.

so i tend to believe that it has more to do than with attacking

I initially thought it was this. But then there'd be no attribute for defensive positioning. The only variable would be whether they have a "D-Line Control" star, or not.
