**complementary off the ball movement**

I think it would be a massive improvement to add to the current off the ball system, if it was possible to determine the direction in which the player who passed the ball will run after passing the ball; sounds complicated, but it could be done rather easily.

My proposition is simple and would complement perfectly with the off the ball system that Konami has implemented into the game this year: directing the right analog stick without pressing it, and then, after determining the direction of the off the ball movement, pressing and releasing the pressure sensitive L2 button.

By directing the right analog stick without pressing it, the user would determine the direction of the movement; and by pressing and releasing the L2 button, the user would determine the speed at which the target will run towards the given direction.

The way it would function would be simple: the ball carrier passes the ball, the ball is in the process of reaching the target, and before the receiver of the pass has his first touch on the ball, the user directs the right analog stick towards the south, and quickly after determining the direction, the user presses and releases the L2 button; this would mean that the player who passed the ball will run towards the south, and will continue running towards the south, until he touches the ball again or until he reaches the limit of the pitch.

How far the user presses the L2 button, before depressing or releasing it, would determine the speed at which the target will run towards the given direction; furthermore, pressing and releasing the L2 button again, after the target starts running, would mean that the target will shift into a stationary stance and would therefore stop moving towards the given direction.

The proposed feature would function differently depending on the situation, if done between (A) after each pass and (B) before each first touch: the feature would determine the direction in which the player who last passed the ball will run into.

On the other hand, if done (A) before each pass and (B) after each first touch: the feature would determine the direction in which the ball carrier will run after he passes the ball, as opposed to determining the off the ball movement of the player who last passed the ball.

Determining the direction in which the ball carrier will run after he passes the ball, can be done at any time, as long as it is (A) before each pass and (B) after each first touch; which means that the user/gamer could invent plays on his mind, and set a predetermined direction of off the ball movement and a predetermined speed of movement, before the ball carrier is under pressure. It would be impossible to set a predetermined direction without also predetermining the speed of movement.

It would be a simple and intuitive feature that would complement perfectly with the off the ball system that Konami has implemented into the game this year; it would be possible to predetermine the direction in which the ball carrier will run after he passes the ball, as well as the speed at which he will run; and after predetermining the mentioned movement, it would be possible to determine the off the ball movement of another target.

Example: after the ball carrier already had his first touch on the ball, direct the right analog stick towards the south, and after determining the direction, press and release the L2 button; and after, directing the right analog stick in order to indicate who you want to move, and after selecting the target, pressing the right analog stick in order to manually determine the off the ball movement of the selected target.

As a result, it would be possible to drag the Center Forward backwards, close to the center circle, pass the ball to the Center Forward, and then the player who passed the ball would move in accordance to the predetermined direction of movement and speed of movement; it would be very simple to do, yet would add a great deal of depth to the game.

It would be possible to pass the ball and quickly move horizontally (without the ball) in order to play a quick pass and move; currently, it is only possible to move vertically after passing the ball, which is a massive limitation.

This is one of the reasons why I prefer FIFA - players are not static.

Off the ball movement in Pro Evo appears to be non-existent. When I play PES 12, no one moves towards the ball.

I press X to pass, and my team mate simply STANDS THERE.

In FIFA 12 however, when you pass, your team mate moves to receive the ball more quickly.

I also would think an added improvement would be the 'first touch' control option.

For example, as soon as you receive the ball, tap the right analog stick to desired direction to 'lay off' the ball there and create some space for your player. It's difficult to explain but FIFA allows this.

But in PES? I receive the ball from a pass, and my player stands still, ball glued to his feet.

That's a good point, though I fail to see why the right analog stick should be necessary, surely, directing the left analog stick + tapping the L1 button, should suffice??

Furthermore, concerning off the ball movement, at least PES12 offers the freedom to manually control the off the ball movement of certain players; I don't quite like the execution, but it makes a difference.

I'm not thrilled by either game this year, both games look like PES11.5 and FIFA11.5, these companies are not doing enough, in my opinion.

It's because I think FIFA's controls are literally perfect.

PES controls feel somewhat difficult to get used to.
