Hi all,

I am new here and I have been looking through the forum a little bit but I am confused, I was looking for a update file and I come accross people saying about a patch for pes4, what is a patch and what is the difference with it rather than just a update file? Please help as I am wanting to get my PES 4 uptodate and detailed as possable

A patch will give you a WAY more realistic and interesting view of your PES4 (new matchballs, kits, boots, chants etc added, stadiums edited, more realistic faces +++)

An OF (option file) gives you a well updated list of teams (club and national), the ORIGINAL kits for teams like i.e. VFB Stuttgart, Liverpool, Man. U, Everton and so on, correct team & stadium names and other interesting stuff.

When adding a patch AND an OF, you will get a DAMN good copy of your PES4! I tell you that I didn't like PES3 because I wasn't aware of the patching and OF possibilities, but once I found out, the game went to the top in my soccer game list, for sure.

To read more about the patch (which you should get if you have a modded PS2), click here

Hope that helps you then...

Greetings and welcome to the forums.

Ok heres a brief explination (theres probbaly a load out there more knowledgeble on the subject than me):

Patching: You burn a copy of the game onto a different disc where the games graphics have been altered. This means a kit's graphics on the original version has been replaced with a new graphic of a proper kit.

A patch allows you to change a lot of in-game things such as title screen, music and the ball's graphics.

Option file: This is a downloadable save game that is uploaded to your memory card via Max-Drive or X-Port. This includes an updated version of the game but only as far as internal editing will allow. The player names, kits and stats can be updated but they won't look as authentic as the patched version.

Option file.

Hope this helps and if not, don't be afraid to ask again. :)

Optionfile = Editing that can be done in-game/by hand, usually for the lazy sods who can't do it for themselves or people who are less skilled at the in-game editing. It also saves alot of time.

Patch = Basically editing done to the actual DVD DATA, it's the kind of editing you can't do by hand and requires good skill in the PC department. For example, new boots, stadiums, theme music, player faces etc.

Both optionfile and patch are downloadable. And also incredibly easy to use.

Wow thanks alot, so I need my PS2 chipped then, I wouldent know where to get it done and if/when I have that means I copy a patched version of PES 4 onto a new disc and it would be better and more realistic? how did you people get your PS2 chipped/modded then and do you have any screenshots of a patched version?

Nate

by the way, thanks again alot for the advice :)

I haven't been able to play a patched version yet as my PS2 isn't chipped, but I found this product that:

play.com said:
Includes proprietary MAX Media Creator PC software letting you burn your own MAX Media Player compatible CD-R's that play on any regular PlayStation 2 ¿ no need to modify your console.

which I want to try. Anyone know if it's any good?

Wow so you don't need to mod your PS2? That would be ace as I don't really want to mess with the insides of my PS2. If ANYONE has any reviews on this ect would be handy, thanks alot Tom for the advice :)

Okay, I have read about it on that site but that doesnt say anything about playing copied games ect or what the Max Media thing can do, it seems more expensive too

I have the damn thing mate. I've had my Slide Card for 14 months now. It plays patched and import games.

Remember your actually hearing this from experience, when nobody has the Max Media thing. Plus the Max Media only play CD-R's which is a pain in the asscrack.

Check the jonboyo patch thread (here at pesinsight) to see some pictures of the patched game or use the Search function for more pics/info.

In future, please do not open a non download thread in the downloads section.

The jonboyo threads are in the File Downloads section. And they would be a lot easier to find if people didn't keep opening random threads in there ;)

Must have been a curious search you attempted. When I tried, I got this set of results.
