Okay, so I've created Ricardo Olivera and stocked him in the edit.

NExt step is to transfer him into the Valencia club squad, but I can't find a way of doing this. I have tried the free transfer and the club selection modes yet neither gives me the option to transfer a created player to a club?

how do i do this?

The simple answer is - you can't.

i suppose that you can modify players to look like anyone, you just need the correct nationalities?
that's sweet, pretty much similar effort to do. love this game.
