D pad controls confusion

i ve been playing Winning 11 for a while but what really gets me confused is the d-pad controls. i might explain myself wrong here but please bear with me.

The game plays from left to right, when you are running so to run right you would run right and to run left you would run left.
simple.

but when you are shooting, when you press [ ] and you press up on the d pad, does this mean shooting to the left

So right on the d pad means a high shot and pressing left on the d pad means a low shot.

To confuse you a bit more.

When you are taking a free kick. The screen goes to first person mode so, what is what now? Does pressing up on the d pad means shooting left or does it means more lift?

anyway thanks for the trouble.
maybe i ll get more goals now

Hi there

I've noticed that too on the PES 3 demo, that I always seem to hit a high shot straight down the middle of the goal. Your comments would support this, because I press right on the d-pad(analog stick). So what you are saying is that to shoot into the bottom left corner, I should press top left on the d-pad?

It's all a bit confusing at the moment, as you don't get that many opps to shoot in the demo-it's way too hard and too short!

I have to admit that one has always frustrated me also. What applies all the time? the left-right? even when in free kick mode?

to get it in the right hand corner just aim in the direction your running.

and to aim left aim in the opposite direction.

this is as if it was played from left to right,just do the opposite when playing right to left.

So, I'm running through the middle on goal to the left. to put it in the left hand corner I push the d-pad/stick to the left (I am already as I'm running that way) correct? I would have said press downwards and left for top left? Man?! I've lost it!

ok...............when ur running right for example, trying to score on the right side of the field......if you are running straight towards the goal and u press up on the d pad while u are shooting, the player will shoot more likely on the left part of the goal....if you press down it will shoot on the right part of the goal........

Free kicks
i can call myself a free kick expert......i score about 90% of the times now...................when u take a free kick the camera will move behind u..............if you hold up, your shot will be more powerfull and more straight.............if u hold left the ball will swirl left and if you hold right the ball will swirl right.......if you hold down your shot will be weak and more kinda like a lob.....very good if you are shootin from 24m and less.......

hope this help you

Remember you can also use X and/or /\ to dip the ball, as well as R1.

The shooting was explained well by noplacer above. (When running to the right) Press down to shoot more to the right of the goal and up to shoot more to the left of the goal.
So basically:

Down = Right
Up = Left

I didn't know this was still a grey area for PES/WE gamers. Go figure.

I think that its really confusing when trying to explain with words. The only thing I'm sure about is that when you attacking from left to right the shoot while running will go to the bottom of your TV screen. If you press the d-pad to the opposite way it will go to the top of your screen. and the other way around.
In free kicks it's not simplier it's harder. of course when you press the d-pad up the ball doesn't go too high but has more power and if d-pad is pressed down the ball goes higher but there is no power.
to tell you the truth I haven't cleared things out yet but usually I send the ball where I want to but it's coming by itself if you know what I mean.
My question is how you shoot a free kick so the ball goes in without taking any high at all? (I know the thing with [] and down d-pad but this is not a shoot)
and its even harder to control the shoots (especially free kicks) with the analog stick.(unless you want to do a banana shoot)

P.S sorry for the big post

I did find problems with directing shots at first but I practised in training mode and found out how to take different types of shot and now I score quite a few goals. I rarely have games where by I dont score even on 4 Stars. 5 Stars is extremely difficult to score and defend against the opposition.

As Isaid before it's very difficult to explain with words the shoot control in WE/PES. try to play with the "back" camera in practice
