Has anyone got tips on general defending on PES6?

I have always been good at defending on previous PES games but i struggle to keep a clean sheet on this one.

I heard changing the players roles of your full backs from 'RB & LB' to 'CB' helps - is this true???

Does moving the position of the defence further back (towards the keeper) help???

Any other tips please, thanks!

If you change your sb's to cb's, those players will not move up the pitch on offense.

In general, the players seem to respond much slower in this version of the game. Thus, it's probably in your best interest to not be as aggressive with your defender when challenging for the ball. I kind of just shadow the offensive player and let him come to me. I don't really make an aggressive attempt at the ball unless I have to. Otherwise, it's really easy to get burned.

It helps if you pay attention to defending in a real match. You'll notice that if you commit you usually get burned or penalised.

Like chaddyru said, you don't wanna do that. You really should use your SBs to attack as well. Basically, you don't need to touch the formation.

Don't hold :x:. You'll get burned if you miss. Rule no.1, stay behind the attacker. Just keep blocking his path. Stay slightly on his stronger foot. Eventually they'll run out of options and send a bad cross with weaker foot that usually hits you or they'll pass it back or you'll find an opportunity to steal. I don't use :x: to steal, I just run at an angle towards the ball without :R1:

Rule no.2, :square: is your best friend. Soon as a cross comes in and you think it'll reach a striker, hit :square: not :x:. Sometimes you have to hit it 2 or 3 times. Also press it frantically when clearing loose balls.

If using manual player switch and you get caught out of position, defend the 1 without the ball and hold :square: to defend the 1 with the ball.

Next practise slide tackles. You'll get a lot more clean sheets once you improve these areas.

p. s. when you have no other choice and some attacker is coming at full speed, take him down ;). You'll get booked but its worth it.
