hi, im getting really annoyed, ive wasted 4 cds already.
I have an edited version of the WE-UK, WE6:FE game. I am trying to edit this slightly by updating a kit and some sponsor boards. I extract the files using cdrwin, then i use cd mage to get the filedata.afs. So i then have a .cue .bin and filedata.afs in a folder.

I then go into wemod, put in my boards and kits and then come out of that. And then i go back into cdmage and i press refresh to try and put the edited filedata.afs in (because the tutorials say to import the edited one but i cant see how). Then i go into cdrwin click load cuesheet- load up the .cue file from the folder with the edited filedata.afs in, and then record disc.

Once it is recorded I look at the disc on properties/explore and its empty, but if i go to extract using cdrwin it has the necessary files. I put it into my (chipped)PS2 and it does nothing. Where am i going wrong? please help. The problem cannot be with the edited filedata.afs bit because if it didnt update and put the edited one in the computer should still make a copy of my original game? Also, i am burning on 2x speed, because thats the slowest my cd drive will go.
Thanks to anyone who can help

i also just tried- copying all the files off the cd into a folder. Then pasting my filedata.afs into that folder, and then writing it all to cd, but this came up saying there was an error whilst putting it on the cd, so i couldnt do it. please help.

After you have finished the editing of the Filedata you have to regenerate it with the AFS Explorer. Then import it simply to the image with CD Mage.

i dont understand atall. I have no import option with cd mage, and i think my filedata.afs has saved in the right folder anyway. When i write everything to the cd- their is nothing, it just stays in the PS2 browser, and if i go to my computer>cd drive and look at the cd it just comes up with an empty cd.
and how do i regenerate in afs explorer? and will this make the cd playable?
thanks for any help

You should get a version of CDMage that does let you Import stuff. I use version 1.02.01 and it does let you do it.

ok, i'll download a new version because i dont have import in mine. But does this solve the problem of the cd not doing anything, because surely if i do not import it, then it will just write the game but with the original filedata.afs?
sorry about all this! and thanks for the help!
(have you got a link to a cdmage with an import function)

right i did all that, used the new version, imported the edited filedata.ads. Then checked it for corruptions-it was fine. Then went into cdrwin, found the cue file i had been using in cdmage, pressed record disc, when it had finished i stuck it in my ps2 and it just went to the browser and stayed there and didnt load (and yes i'd pressed reset, and yes its certainly chipped!) i left it in for a couple of minutes to double check (and probably wreck the laser) and it still didnt work.
Can anyone think where i might be going wrong, please help. I am using a patched cd of WE6:Fe, and just trying to edit a few things, could this be the problem, thats its not the original cd? i cant see why this would be a problem.
please help
thanks

hi, i just read a post from a while ago on issextreme, saying something about lbas defining how the game loads, have you heard of this? I've seen a list of the lbas for WE6:fe so im gonna edit mine to that and hope for the best, probably wont work again but might be worth a try....if i can find a cd!
