Does this happen to anyone else on BAL?

Every time i sign for a club who seem to be doing well they suddenly have an awful season, resulting in me not staying at any club for more than a season. My player scores his fair share of goals and often gets man of the match so he is pulling his weight, its just the defending of any team i go to seems to be awful.

When first going to the english league i signed for fulham, who wern't likely to be top half anyway, but i didn't do to bad there. I then moved to newcastle, where i finished around mid table. i moved to aston villa the following season who had been around the top of the table previously, they struggled in the league however i did make it to the uefa cup final. I then moved to second place chelsea, in this season chelsea got knocked out of all competitions early and ended up in a relegation battle (if you could get relegated). i scored 18 goals in this season from the wing forward position in a 4-3-3. i then moved to second place spurs who since i have moved to them have become a mid table club, despite my player getting off to a good start.

Does everyone do this rubbish in the start of the career or has anyone won any trophies in the first 5 years on top player?

In the 3rd season everything will turn. Your team will play really well. I'm with Inter on 3rd season and they are 1st in every trophy. I won many trophies in 2nd season with Catania but that team was not good enough.

It takes at least a season and a half to adapt to how a team plays. You need to stay in one place for longer even though its frustrating

This used to happen to me too, I now transfered from Barca to Chelsea to switch leagues, currently aged 24 and its not happening with Chelsea.. I think it depends on the strength and ability of your player. Somehow the game takes your player's level into account when deciding how your team should play. At least, from what I've seen.

During the first season, ur team would play like crap, u would have to stay for a few seasons untill the team starts to gell together.

I'm still in the 1st season with Inter and they're doing great. But my first 2 seasons with Genoa and Catania respectivley weren't great although I scored many goals. But my team disappointed. This time however, Inter are doing extremly well.

I was playing at AC Milan in my 4th season and they were totally useless if I wasn't playing. Always conceding silly goals, and most of the time they could only score if I was involved in the build up or the one who actually scores

I started at Genoa and then moved to Reggina for two seasons and then Torino. Reggina was garbage. They still are. Torino, however, built the team around me and now they are european giants with players like Park Chu Young, Ronaldinho, and Gerrard. I left for the English league with Man City.

Stick with a team for a season or two, and if they don't start making good signings by the second season then you should start thinking about transfering. But you at least have to stay for two seasons.

My very first BAL game was on regular difficulty, to get used to this mode at all. I started off in Wigan, which I left at 13th place after half a season for Newcastle, who were 11th place by then. The season ended, my Newcastle was 16th, Wigan 9th... Next season at Newcastle saw the team finishing at 12th place, I switched for Tottenham who were 6th. Third season passed by, I got to semi-final of the league cup to be beaten by Liverpool in a thrilling two-leg game, (losing first one 0:4 and winning the second 3:0, for the last 20 minutes struggling to get to extra time...) but finished the league 11th... For my fourth season I switched to Chelsea and that's where the fun started... I got to World Team of the Year and European Team of the Year (in the prior season I was the league top scorer, league cup top scorer and was the leading scorer in the Champions Cup but failed to get through further), after like 24 or so games we're 1st with like 8 points over 2nd place Arsenal, I'm topping the scoring chart again (4 more than second place in the league, 1 more in league cup and 3 more in Champions Cup [or Masters Cup actually, I don't remember which is the better one]), getting 6.5-8.0 ratings every game, developing steadily and having fun playing in the best team around (Chelsea bought C. Ronaldo, Rooney and the likes...), going to switch to pro or even top player for the next season.

Well, halfway through my post I got a little off the topic, but it's pretty much a confirmation of what you wrote. It gets better sometime inside the game, but those few earliest years may see you "wasting" any team you play for.
