Doin My Box In !!!

Ive been trying to find out what the little box underneath the players name is when ur playing.Ive noticed that when u move around the pitch it moves up from attack to defence and changes colours.I dont have a clue if it is important or not but ive seen it from the early days of iss right up to now and still dont have a clue what its for.Could anyone explain what it does and what its there for.

Think its something to do witht heir mentality....whether theyre attacking or defending or whatever....think I read that somewhere before :s? some one will know what it is...
