Fight Night Champion [Xbox 360] [PS3]

The Fight Night series has never delivered a truly satisfying career mode, but EA Canada is hoping to change that with the fifth entry in the series. Fight Night Champion offers not one, but two ways to enjoy a character's rise from nobody to the greatest fighter to ever step into the ring. Legacy Mode improves on the career mode in Fight Night 4 and Champions Mode offers the story of one specific boxer's rise to fame.

Step into the ring for this 2011 entry in the knockout king boxing franchise. Fight Night Champion sets out to define a new standard in sports videogames by delivering the most dynamic simulation fighting experience to date, pushing visual boundaries and redefining the single player journey for the category.
Featuring a refined physics-based animation system that incorporates improved locomotion, punching and stamina mechanics, Fight Night Champion will enable users to move, attack and dodge with the speed and power of the best champions, contenders and pretenders in the world of boxing. In addition, an all-new control scheme (dubbed Full Spectrum Punch Control) will deliver the most realistic punching system ever seen in a simulation fighting game, while still delivering an accessible experience for all players. And Fight Night Champion breaks the mold of what is expected in a single-player sports game. Players will be introduced to an entirely new way to step between the ropes and experience the drama, emotion, excitement and tragedy of world championship boxing.

Due for release March 2011.

Kinda looking forward to it...
Wasn't impressed with round 4, so we'll see about this one.

Aye. I liked Tyson being in the last one but it would be nice to have a wider selection of current fighters instead, even if it meant losing the likes of Ali, Frazier and co.

If not, I'd settle for Foreman in his younger days being included.

EA has sifted through numerous British boxers and decided upon one man to grace the cover of Fight Night Champion.

Is it Joe Calzaghe? Is it Lennox Lewis? Is it Ricky Hatton? Is it Frank Bruno? Is it Nigel Benn? Is it Audley Harrison? Is it Chris Eubank? Is it Barry McGuigan? Is it Prince Naseem Hamed?

No, it's David Haye, the 30 year-old cornrowed Londoner who knocked out Audley Harrison.

Haye is the current WBA World Heavyweight Champion of the world.

Fight Night Champion will release for PS3 and Xbox 360 in March.

Woohoo.

Anyone got this so far?

Been banging out Legacy mode for a bit now, still getting to grips with the game and finding it hard as fuck to finish off my opponents. I'm stringing together wins, but really want to try and get my KO ratio up. Also, really enjoying some of the training games on there.

I've been playing the Champion Mode which is good but is real hard. Don't want to spoil anything soo...

Really stuck on the fight where Bishop breaks his right hand and has to fight the rest of the fight (round 2 onwards) throwing left punches. I just can't win this one. It's probably because I'm learning the ropes still.

Want. Fight night games fucking rule. Just about the only thing EA Sports can actually get right.

Wait, what?

After playing the demo, it just seems like an arcade-style button-basher to me, with punches being landed left, right and centre with the guy on the receiving end just standing there. It's something that would suit a Rocky game, maybe, but it doesn't accurately represent a proper fight at all.

Was just doing the tournament in legacy mode right at the beginning and it froze as the bell rang in the 4th round in the final.. I was wining aswell!

Got this game today for PS3, only done a little bit of the story mode, I must admit that this is amazing so far, living up to expectation. It has a pretty big roster as well, I think it will most likely expand with future DLC. Thumbs up for me!

I dunno bout this one cos I haven't played it, but does it have the sliders where you can adjust how hard they punch/how fast and tough they are etc? That way you could tailor it to be more realistic.

NO!!! I fucking love these games but if what you say is right.... SHIT!!!

The demo plays completely different to the actual game tbh. And Im guessing it's how you play the game on where you button bash but it still is a bit arcadey for me.

Yeah, I would expect improvements in the retail version - that's a given.

It just feels a bit like the UFC game, where so many powerful strikes are landed to the guy on the other side just standing there taking them. I know they need to get the right balance between fun and realism, but on the demo it seemed like you could swing for the fences for the entire round without gassing your guy too much.

I'm not a huge boxing fan, so it's not something I would've bought anyway - I'm not saying my experience with it wasn't fun, just far from realistic.

I am a pretty big fan of boxing, and I suppose a truly realistic boxing game wouldn't be a great deal of fun, unless in the hands of two people that knew alot about boxing and were good at video games. Of which there aren't many.
