Dr. Bob Kelso
Welcome back...
Possibly THE most underrated game to hit the PS2.
I am well into the arl GGs' but even a few of my mates who arn't have got into this and we have some cracking races.
Whether jumps is your game or flat is your poison G1 has it all.
As the title suggests it is a horse racing game. You are the jockey and can play in versus mode where you just pick whatever great horse you wish and then compete against computer opponents or your mate.
The names are not real due to licensing but if you are a bit race savy then you can work out a fair few. Eg Fly Millenium - Dubai Millenium, Loch of Gibraltar - Rock of Gibraltar and then more cryptic ones such as Petersburg - Johannesburg and Laydur - Dayjur.
Do not be fooled in thinking G1 Jockey 4 is a better game because it is newer, it really isn't!
Career mode is quality as well. As a new jockey on the scene you are lucky enough to have your choice of who to ride for. Choose wisely as it will determine how good and the variety of horses you ride early on. When you are actually established, trainers will request that you ride their horses for the big races and if you win on those horses you can be made the jockey for that horse permanently. It should be noted that you can train horses as and when you see fit but how often depends on how commited you are to winning either that race or improving that horse.
All in all if you haven't tried this game you really should. It is very cheap to get hold of these days and will give you hours of fun.
