game black screen?

he i love pes 4
i have the game on ps2 but bought it anyway for pc. the reason???? online play. The onely thing is when i start the game i see all the familliar logo's. After the adidas bla bla screen i get a black screen and nothing more. When i press contriol alt delete this will not work. i heve to reset my comp.
does anyone have the same problem??

make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. Get the latest ATi drivers here: www.ati.com

i did that the moment i got the game. i always do that when i buy a new game.

hmm... try messing around with the Game Settings. Try changing the game's resolution and graphics quality (I know your card can handle HIGH quality, but try medium and low anyway). If that doesn't work, try changing some of your graphics card values around.

Right click desktop -> Properties -> advanced -> change things such as turn ON/OFF vsync (vertical sync), increasing and lowering Anisotrophic Filtering and Antialiasing.

If none of that works, then I have no clue


And you can't ctrl + alt + del in the game at all. You can't even alt tab, or use the windows key. (it can be irritating)

Until the problems are resolved I would suggest using Start.....Konami...etc...Settings to force the game to start in windowed mode. At least that way you CAN use alt+ctr+del to shut the game down again.

In fact, I always have PES4 starting in windowed mode so I can change the priority of PES4.EXE process to High using alt+ctr+del, then I maximise the game.

ken, do u know that u can do that via a batch file?? and it will open it with high priority all the time?

i would re-install PES4, it may not have copied a file properly....

Yup, I used to try doing that with PES3 and CM03/04 but I could never get it to load with the higher priority doing it that way. Can you confirm the exact form that the switch has to take, including whether upper/lower case etc. and I'll have another go?

ok in the wondowed mode i can get out of the game when it crashes...phew. when i fiddle around with the settings the game still ends in a black screen. just before the intro begins on the ps2 version the pc version freezes. this is exactly why bought a ps2 and should have bought an xbox to play online!!!!

The same happens to me, but i can play one game and its fine, its always happens on my second game! I have set graphics to low, play it in a window on a resonably low res. I have also be unable to patch the game for some reason - always says installation incomplete.....most annoying.

I have managed to get it installed now, and as I am v1.1, the problems have stopped. Afraid I cant offer any help, as I dont know what I did diffrently.....keep trying.

this happened to me in pes3 aswell as pes4 but it doesnt crash...just seemed to load the fmv (takes like 20 seconds to do it) - what i did was on the white adidas screen i jsut kept pressing X on my pc-ps2 pad (usb adapator) and it skips the fmv and loads the Start screen - this happened to my Friend aswell....this seem to get the game working for him, try it anyways its worth a shot

hi, i got the same prob as u but i got a solution it works for me myb for u too
b4 the the black screen comes start press :x: on yr pad(im using a converter for ps2-usb) or myb u can use enter unsteed, so keep pressing right b4 and it will jump to press a key screen not video! try it no need to re install
i have a ati 9600 pro

Hehe was this not the same problem on PES3..? There was a special file you needed to rename and then it worked..? It was called cafe or something like that..... My specs though are the same as yours almost and it all runs just fine here!
