Dude get a Gamecube as its more original and has more better games then the xbox, but if you like your games dark and edgey then you may prefer X-box. I've got an gamecube and have played an x-box and overall i think gamecube is more fun.

Speaking as a person who has both consoles. I would say the Xbox is faaar superior.

Better graphics, better specs and online play make for a better gaaming experience.

The Gamecube doesn't have anywhere near the number of quality titles as the Xbox does, and if you like FPSs the Xbox is the only console to get.

Xbox Live is fantastic, and adds months of extra life to games.

i have an xbox and i think its fantastic, the range of top quality titles on the system are excellent, games like pro evo 4 obviously and halo2 is a must play. also knights of the old republic and fable for any rpg fan are a must. online play is a big plus for xbox gamers. i dont have a gamecube but i do plan on buying one. i played super smash bros and i loved that. i also would buy a gamecube just for the upcoming Legend of Zelda DS in the summer. i have a PS2, PC (obviously) and XBox. also with xbox you find that games that stretch accross all platforms (burnout 3, tiger woods 2005, soul calibur II ect.) are 90& of the time better on the xbox.

just my opinion, hope its helpful :)

I prefer the Xbox by a long margin, but really it depends what type of games you like. If you like platformers like Mario, Donkey Kong, etc get a Gamecube, but if you like shooting games like Unreal Championship, Halo, Counter Strike etc get an Xbox. Obviously, both consoles have great games in other genres aswell, but i'd say the GameCube specialises in Platformers and the Xbox in shooting games. The majority of the multi-platform games are better on the Xbox aswell.
I'd definitely recommend an Xbox. The graphics and it's power is unrivalled, and with the hard-drive you can copy your music cd's to it, and on several games you can have your favourite music playing in the background, which is nice.
The Xbox 2 will be out fairly soon though, so you might want to wait for that, although it may be very expensive when it's first released.

Xbox 2 is well in the making, and it's rumoured it may be released by Christmas 2005. I'd imagine some Xbox games will still be released, and there are plenty of great games that have already been released on the Xbox, so it probably would take you quite some time to get all the games you want for it.
You have a ps2 don't you? If I was in your position, I think I would wait a bit, at least till more info is released about the Xbox 2, and then make a decision.
If you have your heart set on getting either a GameCube or Xbox soon, I would recommend getting an Xbox, but if you can sit tight and wait a little longer, i'd wait for the Xbox 2.

What are you favourite types of videogames?

i.e Sports/Shooting/Platformers/RPG's etc

may be if I don’t spend my money one Game cube or X-Box, may be I will spend it on something stupid. I know my self

My advice would be to buy an Xbox now.

There are so many great titles already out, plus many more still in production to be released next year.

The Xbox is undisputedly the king of first person shooters.
I'd say it had the best racers quite easily because of the unbelievable PGR2.
And it hassome fantastic RPGs. It doesn't have Final Fantasy but it does have Morrowind, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and Fable, which are three amazing games.

Well, the Resident Evil series has been released on the GameCube, but I think I heard they are going to be released back on the ps2 aswell soon.
Final Fantasy I think is still a ps2 exclusive, although I may be wrong.

The Xbox has a fantastic RPG game called Fable, and also Star Wars:Knights Of The Old Republic II and Shenmue 2.
The Xbox has some other great action/adventure games such as Halo 1 & 2, Chronicles Of Riddick, Ninja Gaiden, Splinter Cell 1 & 2, Counter Strike and that's just off the top of my head.
This year, Doom 3, Half Life 2, Gta:San Andreas & Timesplitters 3 are coming out.

If you can't wait, I think you should buy an Xbox.

Xbox 2 info.
Developers have been working on games for the Xbox 2 (or Xbox Next or Xenon, depending on which codename you'd prefer) for over a year now. And the consensus amongst publishers and industry insiders is the machine will be on store shelves this holiday season. But Microsoft has been (and continues to be) stingy with details about the system.
The big questions, at present, revolve around whether Xbox 2 will a) be backwards compatible (in other words, will it be able to play current Xbox games?) and b) have a hard drive. Of course, the matter of price is at the top of people's minds as well.

Let's take these in reverse order.

Price: There's little doubt that gaming in the next cycle is going to be more expensive. At least one major publisher (Activision) has gone on record saying it plans to increase wholesale prices on its AAA games. Others will likely follow its lead. That will probably result in retail prices jumping $5 to $10 per title.

Will hardware prices follow that trend? At least one analyst believes so. Tony Gikas of Piper Jaffray said in a recent note he expects the Xbox 2 to break beyond the traditional launch price for new consoles, which has stood at $299.

"We think Microsoft will price its next generation system at or above $300 for the base model," wrote Gikas. "We also think there will be a model that includes accessories or network devices that could price as high as $350-$400/system."

So what about the hard drive? That's a little trickier. Many, at this point, believe Microsoft will opt for flash memory rather than the traditional hard drive found in the current Xbox, but things hardly seem nailed down. It's just as likely that the company will abandon any significant installed memory and will rely on the user's home network to store games.

Whether that happens or not, the next Xbox will definitely communicate with home PCs. Bill Gates has talked glowingly about bringing music and media to the Xbox as well as connecting Xbox Live to MSN Messenger. And nine months ago, the company unveiled a new development platform for game makers called XNA, which will allow PC and Xbox gamers to play together online – and plug the Xbox 2 controller into the PC.

Backwards compatibility seems more likely today than it did a year ago. Last May, when I talked with Microsoft corporate vice president Peter Moore at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, he downplayed the importance of being able to play old games on the new system. That was before the phenomenon known as "Halo 2," though.

With sales of the game already topping the original – and still going strong (a trend likely to continue for some time) – Microsoft (Research) likely won't want to alienate them by taking away their ability to easily play the game. Gikas said he believes there is "a better than average chance that the Xbox 2 will be backward compatible."

Other things you can expect from Xbox 2 include wireless functionality and improved high definition outputs. Downloadable content will probably play an increased role as well, given the expansion of broadband internet service and the success of Xbox Live's content download sales (expansion maps, etc. for select existing games are sold at a nominal price to Xbox Live subscribers).

A couple words of warning about the coming months, though: Console launches come with a level of hype that even Donald Trump could not imagine. Before the end of May, we'll likely have seen eye-popping graphics from not only Xbox 2, but Sony's (Research) PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's next-generation console. Those graphics will amaze you visually, but they won't necessarily be reflective of what the games will be like.

The Xbox 2 sounds like it is going to be very special, and could be backwards compatible, so Xbox 1 games work on it.

But, as I said earlier, if you can't wait that long, I would suggest buying an Xbox.

I can only agree with Akineye and what pretty much everyone else has said to this point.

Since getting an X-Box a few months ago, I've ended up selling my GameCube.

I'm hooked on XBL.

If you like Resi Evil and RPG's get a gamecube, IMO there is nowt special about the Xbox apart from graphics. Halo gets pretty boring after you've killed hoardes of grunts for the 1,000th time. PES for the Xbox is slower than the illiterate reading, thats about it for the Xbox really the only game I play for mine is Counter Strike. Plus you could buy Super Monkey Ball for the GC and get 4 player uberfun going!!! :D

Personally, I like the Gamecube better.

I'm a fan of FPSs and sports games, but seeing as my PC has top quality specs, and I have a PS2 controller adaptor, the PC is a good enough reason not to own an Xbox.

Gamecube because I'm a Nintendo fanboy really.
Just one that plays every other console. :D
