Graphics Card Help

I'm looking to buy a graphics card for my PC and to be honest i'm a bit lost as there are so many available. I'm only a casual PC gamer and I want one for around the £80-100 mark and i realise i wont get anything special for this price, but can any of you recommend some good cards?

My PC has a 3.06 Ghz Pentium 4 at the moment with 512mb memory, which is fairly capable but struggles a bit when the screen fills up. Any help and recommendations are appreciated.

GeForce 6600GT sounds like your best bet. It'll only be a 128MB version, and requires that your motherboard has a PCI-Express slot.

You'll need to know whether you have a PCI-Express or AGP port on your motherboard. What graphics card do you currently use?

I bought my pc a couple of months back and it was a fairly basic package so it doesn't have one at present. I'm pretty sure it has a PCI slot. Thanks for your help - i'll give the 6600 GT a look.

Make sure its PCI-E, not standard PCI ;)

Alternatively, get the make and model of your motherboard and you or I could check the internet to see what ports it is meant to have.

I have a 6600, but I seem to have 256mb. Any idea of what version of the 6600 it is?

Same one as me, don't know what version it is though, but i can play Quake 4 onhigh graphics so it is pretty decent.
