Ok, I am new to this forum so hi to everyone out there.

I just got PES5 on my nice PC I got built at Xmas. Its specs is something like this, ill update it later.

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Processer
nVidia GeForce 6200 Graphics Card
512mb DDR Ram
70gb hard drive

I use a Logitech Dual Action USB controller, but why am I saying that for its a graphics problem. The monitor isn't very new and I think this may be part of the problem because I am sure the PC is good enough to handle it, or do I need an upgrade already?!

The problem I have is that all the games I have all run great on high mode, but PES5 will just not run smoothly. On High there is no way I can play as it stutters and I can't play like that. Medium, I could get away with but on long balls it glitches and even passing can be slow. So I am stuck on Low setting which is ridiculous as it feels I am playing on a PS1 or GBA or something, its quite poor, not to mention the pitch quality which is basically the main problem. The pitch on high is very nice and is one colour, but if its not on high the pitch is really terrible and I find it hard to see a white ball as the pitch goes green & white.

So if anyone knows a solution to this, I will gladly listen to it as I want to play PES properly on High mode.

I hope I dont need a new graphics card, but if I do - there is a GeForce6200 up for sale ;)

6200 should enable you to run in low, maybe medium as long as it's set to performance and not image quality. It's still quite a weak card for playing games on though. I would upgrade it to at least a 6600GT or a 6800nu/X800
Maybe another stick of room would improve things, I know going from 512 to 1 Gig gave me a huge performance boost in certain games.
Seems a shame to have a nice Athlon64 and handicap it with a low end card.

thanks for the advice I am very keen on PC's and I am learning very fast. I am just waiting for the next chance to get down to my fave PC shop and get another 512 card anyway so that was already planned, but I guess I will have to think about getting a new graphics card already then, seeing as my current card is brand new I should be able to sell it easy enough and go for the very best.

Cheers :)

So I am going to upgrade to 1024mb ram, so along with that which graphics card would you suggest I would need to get to play it on HIGH from this site:

http://www.rlsupplies.co.uk/Products/default.asp?type=dept&DepartmentID=390&MID=

The card I currently have is the very first one on the page, so how high do I need to go? The next Gigabyte 6600 for £79 or another step up to £105, or £120?

Cant spend £500+ hehe but would be willing to buy one good enough to play PES nicely, thanks for any help.

Depends what games you're playnig.

I went for a 7800GT at Christmas. Don't plan on changnig for two years. 6800GT would do the job perfectly as well. You could probably get away with a 6600 but it may not be great at handling other games you may want to play. Personally I wouldn't go below the 6800GT.

It really depends on your budget. For £100 you can't really go wrong with a 6600GT or a 6800 but if you can stretch another £50 then the 6800GS is the way to go as it has 256mb of very fast ram onboard.
I have a Asus 6800 which i got from E-buyer a couple of weeks ago for £89 +VAT and I can run PES5 on high settings with my ASthlon XP 2400+.
Incidentally, is your 6200 the TurboCache version? (usually called 6200TC) If it is then it would use system memory on graphically intensive games, in which case your extra 512mb could have a large effect.
I would suggest getting the memory first and seeing how it performs before spending more on a new card.

Timm, yes it is the Turbocache one, thanks for the advice. I will get the extra memory first then see what it looks like, maybe I could then play on medium and wait a while to get an even better graphics card sometime soon.

Oh and the thing about system memory, am I currently playing games using the cards on-board memory, making them not get the full use of the rest of the PC? if so then can you guide me where to change this, if not then thanks anyway, cheers guys!

That is the exact card I have, so the answer is there somewhere.

Anyway, after reading this I went back to PES, and what I did was put it on High, after ending a few unnessecary processes in the Task Manager, and the graphics are what I expect but it is just a bit lagged. So as long as I close anything that taking memory for no reason I can play it on medium, which is a lot better than low.

So I was thinking, now that I know the card is ok, maybe if I just got that 2nd memory stick to double the RAM, then maybe it would have enough power to run on high? Its not too far away from it right now anyway, but enough for me to still have to play FIFA on the PS2 :(

It doesn't say if it is 64 or 128 bit. Wait for the memory and then see, I think you'll be fine.

One little thing to remember: XFX GeForce cards are overclocked. The cheaper ones either aren't, or are set to run even slower than the card actually allows as a maximum. Be very careful and check the specifications of your chosen BRAND of the GeForce card.

I always buy XFX GeForce cards (they're not cheap) because I've thankfully never had problems and they are already overclocked slightly.

1GB of RAM is essential, as is a good graphics card (6600+ considering your budget, though I personally wouldn't go below a 6800 like I've said before). I wouldn't suggest getting a card with less than 256MB unless you barely use the PC for games.

While a 256mb card is nice, you really only need it if you plan on running high resolutions, say 1600 x 1200 and above. Below this 128mb is more than enough, and cheaper of course. A 6600 with 256mb on would perform no better than one with 128mb, mainly because you can't push a 6600 fast enough for it to make use of it.
I still agree about the 6800GS (GT). If you have the money spare then get one, excellent performance for the money and I would have got one myself if I'd had the extra cash. My standard 6800 copes well with everything though so I'm still happy:)

And you haven't told who the blond is in your sig yet !!!

You tried playing The Movies with a 128MB card? You're eventually completely screwed. Good luck playing somethnig like Oblivion with a 128MB card as well, but as I said it depends on what games Lee wants to play. If its just Pro Evo, a 128MB card will be fine.

Usually just playing games such as Football Manager, but now playing normal football games on PC for updates and stuff, not just PES. I think the extra memory will be fine to be honest but if not then I dont mind getting a 6800.

Thanks for all the help everyone, cheers.

(I dont think he is saying who the blonde is ;))

YO LEE!

I had the same problem as you did running the game on low or medium......BUT WHEN I TURNED EVERYTHING UP TO HIGH THE GAME FECKING RUNS SMOOTH AND AS CRISP AS IT POSSIBLY COULD!

This is the only game I have ever witnessed on the PC that actually runs worse when the stats are all turned down and I am not the only one to witness this!

Now, my problem is that i have updated my monitor from my 8 year old baldy 15" piece of crap to a rather nice LG Studiowroks 900B 19" high res monitor.

NOW I CANNOT GET PES5 TO RUN NICE AT ALL.

I think PES5 simply does not have specs high enough to suit my new monitor!!!!!

I have also visited Konami's website and I have got to sday the level of support there is appaling. The worst ever support for any PC game I have ever needed technical support for. Phoning the 75p per minute phone-line simply does not qualify in y books!

I can cleary see that you dont know what you are talking about....

Half of those cards with 256Mb RAM are just total spec gimmicks. Do you not realise that PC games runs of the system RAM and will only dip into the onboard RAm if systme RAM is in short supply.

For example a 9800 Pro 256Mb is pointless cos any game that requires a 256Mb gfx card, is not going to run decently on a 9800 pro anyways.

AND.

a 128Mb 9800 Pro is much more than adequate to run PES5 properly as also is a 6200 Geforce!

It seems to me that PES 5 is a grossly inefficient program with some very strange quirks in the way that it runs......

For example....me not being able to run it nicely on anything but maxed out resolution and quality level........This was the case till i binned my FECKING 8 YEAR OLD MONITOR and bought a spanking new 19" high res monitor.

PES5 simply does not offer high enough specs to run decently on my new monitor.
