Hanging Problem (PC) and Konami Unhelpful

I have been playing PES 2009 for the last couple of weeks almost exclusively Become a Legend mode.

I have a strange problem. If I start the game in full screen mode any action that results in the screen changing ie. the pressing a button on the Press a button screen results in the game just hanging until I press ALT-Enter. This also happend whenever the game autosaves!

If I start the game in windowed mode it just hangs before the Konami screen appears and I have to terminate the process.

If I start in full screen mode, press ALT-Enter and just leave it in windowed mode everything works fine and this is how I have been playing it.

I raised a support issue with Konami wh have completely copped out and said my graphics card (X1950Pro) is not supported and therefore they cannot do anything. This seems like rubbish to me as on the box and in the readme it says X1950 is supported (does the word "Pro" really make that much difference!).

Has anyone else experienced problems like this? I'm really glad I can at least play it. Even if it involves such a convoluted process.

I love the game but have lost respect for Konami as they just don't seem at all interested.

Regards,

Is that an ATi X1950pro? If so then it damn well is supported and whoever said it wasnt is talking out there arse. As for your issues, they sound like a software conflict or graphics driver related.

Couple of tips to see if it helps any;

1.) Do a "clean boot" using the MSconfig tool built in to windows. This will disable all non-essential programs and services. Once your clean booted try the footy and see if its still the same issues happening. If its fine like that then there is a program interfering with the game and causing the problems. Its a case of sifting through each one to find the culprit in that case.

2.) Do a "clean driver install". When installing new drivers or updating exisiting ones, if they are not removed and cleaned out before the new ones go in, old driver files can hang around and again interfere with the game. In this case you would need to un-install your graphics drivers, boot to windows safe mode, and run a program such as DRIVER CLEANER PRO. This software when run allows you to completely remove all traces of previous graphics drivers. Then boot to windows normally and install the newest updated drivers for your card from ATi.

3.) If none of this helps it could be a hardware issue. In this case it can be difficult to know exactly what is at fault. The first thing to check though would be your systems memory by using MEMTEST. Then a check of the systems PSU, to ensure its working correctly. Then check the graphics card is seated correctly in its slot, ensure its fan is turning, and give it a clean out if required.
