Help, PES 2009 slows down after couple minutes of play..

Recently my PES 2009 has been acting up. The first 20 or so minutes of the first half are realy really smooth, the framerate is excellent, no slow down. But then it gradually picks up. to the point where, when the goalie kicks the ball into play, it starts to lag when the ball is in mid air. I was maybe wondering what this could be, as it wasnt a problem at first.

I am running on a Intel Pent 4 , 2.8ghz processor with 2 gb ram and a 8400gs graphics card, Which was enough to handle the game before. I play on 1280x720 , widescreen, with medium setting and frame skipping checked on full screen.

If anybody knows a solution to this, it would be gladly appreciated. thanks
