Hidden attributes

PES2 has hidden attributes if you go to japan formation settings you can see hidden attributes:
GK ability
GK jump
PK save
GK throw acc
GK throw pwr
GK catch
GK coach
Sliding tackle
Intercept
DF marking
Clear acc

Maybe outfield players have this too, thats why maradona and pele are so good or maybe its just because you cant really make a goalie with the basic attributes.

i think the classic players must have special hidden attributes because they cost less than high quality players playing now. Also i did a little test, i base copied pele (base copying removes the hidden stats) and he costed more than the normal pele, whereas if you did this with a player playing now, eg beckham, he would cost less
