Hello. I'm James, and I've been a member of this site for a long time but haven't been on much for ages so I've come back now that I have just purchased PES2009 yesterday. And my my is it good....
I'll be back, only posting where necessary, but reading lots of posts. I've missed the site, I've missed the little gems of info that surprise you because you thought you knew the games inside out, I'm missing the feedback on my formations, I'm missing seeming like a god to 15 yr old noob christianoronaldo7's, and the senior members knocking a chip off my shoulder every now and then. But most of all I miss the people, you all know who you are! I've spotted a few names already in the 5 minutes I've been on the site.
Anyway, I'm back for a while at least, see you all around.

Not many of us left now, but at least you're back. Times have changed, this site really isn't what it was when you left all those years ago...

As for this years PES, on first impressions its fantastic and in comparison to 2008 it's unbelievably good.... But the more you play it, it's not perfect - but hell, it will certainly last the year until the next installment... Which is tipped to have a new engine altogether. We shall see.

I've just been dossin about really, got meself a bird, well in love and all that. Seriously though, I am.
Apart from that, usual stuff, work, sleep, eat, game.
Why not Phatman? I'm playing it on PS2, my 360 died and I refuse to buy another, got me eye on a PS3 after Chrimbo.
Fifa may be catching up, but it still doesn't have a soul.

Ah, the PS2 version I've heard is better than the PS3 and 360 versions, both of which I've tried. One of my biggest problems with PES on the PS3 is that it won't allow me to play online - some sort of UDP port 5730 error - even though I haven't ever come across this problem with any other game on the PS3. Having played every single Fifa since it's come out, I'd say PES has been better from PES1 to PES6 but since the next-gen consoles came out, they've allowed Fifa to overtake them. I still have hope for next year but for this year Fifa 09 is a quality game which I am actually enjoying.

Getting a PS3 over Christmas would be a wise purchase, especially if you're planning on playing games online.

Yeah I had Pes 2008 for the 360 and found the PS2 version was better. I've been lucky cos I would have bought it for the 360 had it still been working. I was starting to show symptons of a gamerscore whore.
I'm glad it's broke in a way cos I've been playing loads of quality old PS2 games lately. Worms 4 Mayhem, Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3, Toca Race Driver 3, and I dipped back into PES 6 for a while when I couldn't take the withdrawal anymore.
Prices will drop after January, I'm more tempted to a PS3, 360 is just shoddy.

Other news, I waited until we told our parents, and you are supposed to wait a while before you make it public. I'm going to be a Dad. Should be a July baby, really excited. Wowoweewa.

You are old... and might I add, jesus christ. Kids is a scary prospect mate, even having to land myself a full time career is daunting. Having said that, I'm sure you'll love being a dad. My sister had a baby last year, he's eighteen months now, but he's ace. Being an uncle is great, I can only imagine being a dad to be a thousand times better!

Thanks guys, I really am looking forward to it, I'm grown up now and pretty much know what to expect, my 2 sisters have 2 kids each and I'm used to them. Kids are easy when you like having fun, I'm still a big kid really so I'm just expecting loads of play and stuff. And crying and vomit. Haha.

Yeah, I used to be a veteran, am I not anymore.... once you are a veteran can you become "not a veteran"??? Like in Nam. Cheltenam.
I've moved up to Elite now as I know I'll be on regularly.
I class myself as a veteran because I've played ISS/Pes since it's birth, but I am only a veteran on here cos I've been a member for ages. And maybe my legendary award winning formations thread.

Good luck with the kid! I think we cut a lot of Veterans in the past who weren't on a lot anymore, which is why you aren't one anymore.

If I removed my Elite status I would return to veteran. I was still a veteran the other day before I bought my subscription. I'd be outraged if my veteran status was removed. outraged I tell you. Veteran. Not sure I said veteran enough there. Veteran.
