How to improve defense?

Hi, just wondering how you guys improve defense play, particularly gettting the CBs to stay back and defend. PES 2010, like 2009, has the CBs running all over. I already set them to become defensive and turned off any "covering" skill and set them to play more defense than offense and turned down the "aggression" (so as to make them not attack). For tactics I also set the line back, turned down compact and pressing levels. Still CBs are all over the place. I play as Holland on pro level usually, and though many times it is always a tight low scoring game, sometimes teams like Iran or Wales can score unrelentlessly...
very unrealistic defense, even if you turn up the individual skill abilities like response, acceleration, defense and turn on the cards like marking (except covering, which seems to make them go more all over the pitch to cover holes...)...

So how to make CBs stay more or less back?

1) Make sure you aint playing a sweeper system (strategy > Defence > Centre backs in straight line. Sweeper is ok, but I much prefer centre backs in a straight line across the 18 yard box. When I play sweeper it usually leads to me getting caught out somewhere along the line.

2) DON'T dive in! Watch the ball and think about your defenders position. Many times it's possible to stop an attack by simply being in a good position to block a cross or shot by shadowing the attacker and timing the challenge or block just right.

3) Check your full-backs arent set to attack. This has attacking benefits but can lead to your RB/LB going AWOL when that speedy little winger is bombing down the flanks to cross one in.

4) Styles of play. Certain teams play a certain way. Watch and learn to differ between the long ball merchants, the wing kings and the teams who build up intricately through the middle looking for a killer ball. This helps you keep a step ahead of the opposition.

Hope this helps.
