I am Pro evo mad and like a lot of you have been playing since the iss days and i love the game. Every friday for the past 5 years me and my mate play pro evo (master league) from when we finish work until 2,3,4 and even 5 o'clock in the morning!!! But for the last 3 years i have bought fifa, this year included aswell. The last 2 years the game has been played until the release of the mighty evo and part ex for the proper football game.

Fifa 09 was bought on saturday, and i have to say it is better than the last few attempts by ea, but it still isnt anyway near as good as pes. Yes it has got the proper leagues, teams, kits etc which is very good, but on the pitch its the same old story.

Players move like running in treacle, the ball floats like a beach ball on a windy day. I have to be honest i am not very good at fifa but my fingers end up aching as im trying to move these titus bramble like oafs around the pitch.

I can definatly see why people love fifa, with all it has off the pitch it is well ahead of pro evo, but for my fix of off field action i have football manager which is streaks ahead of anything in that respect. So Pro evo is still going to be my fix of onfield action this year, because at the end of the day you want to play a realistic game of football.

Pro evo is still king!!!!

That is exactly my thinkng. FIFA has not been released here yet so I haven't played it, but I've always loved PES for just playing games in ML, around 5 ML games a day. However, lately I can't seem to enjoy more than 1 or 2 games because of the CHEATING. The last two games I played, I got 3 direct red cards and 3 yellow cards, which is simply ridiculous considering the types of fouls I commit and the one's the cpu do to me.

Weak opponents basically play the game just defending and I have to play a six man attack to get goals. Also, they suddently seem to become the fastest, most skilled, technical players in the world. I just can't stand it anymore, and this trend continues on PES 09, I think I will be buying my first FIFA game since FIFA 03.

Yep same for me... I even prefer the play limited demo of PES 09 over Full release of FIFA 09..
I use analog ( manual ) passing only.. There is no chance for me to play Fifa then..

I guess thats true.. I'm a fan of great football games.. that's why I've stuck to PES for the last 5 years.. however, I'm pointing out that I just get extremely frustarted with a game that feels the need to "cheat".. just the other day I was playing with my super Juventus team vs Reggina in ML 2018 and I had 10 corner kicks and could not socre a single goal from them.. I was still winning 9-0 (I always play in Top Player) and in the last play, Reggina players stated to outrun and outdribble my superior players and they got a corner kick.. as soon as it heppened, I knew they would score, and they did..

so it just gets really furstrating when I'm trying to break clean sheet records or most goals in a single match.. the passing in the game is also very dissappointing.. I know it is still a video game and can't really know what i want to do, but the players seem to pass to the wrong person or wrong direction more often than not..

all this can be fixed, and i hope it is fixed for PES 2009 cause im very familiar with the game and i really enjoy the ML, although i relly hope it is also improved and expanded..

I think that PES's gameplay just edges it over FIFA... my natural instinct is that FIFA's is a lot worse, but closer inspection reveals that the defending is actually well-done, meaning I can play a more tactical game (on Pro I just attack, because my defence would be crap with however many players I stick there) and is a bit more rewarding in that sense, but PES completely wins with the attacking side of the game.

Speaking as someone who has had my head turned by FIFA, no, I am not a fan (or fanboy) of PES, I am a fan of football games, and if FIFA have made a game that is excellent, and good fun, then I don't see it as betraying my side in buying it.

In fact, since Sheffield United have been on PES, and Wednesday haven't, I should say that PES is more the antagonist in this situation for me.

i agree with that, ive said it before and i'll say it again, EA Sports and Konami both just want your money, there is no reason to show blind "loyalty" to either. As it happens i have always preferred the PES games since ISS on the SNES and still prefer them now. FIFA09, however, is a very decent football game so, as a result, i have ended up getting that and will also get pro- plenty of room for both as long as they are both worth buying (although pro still feels like it means more, last minute goals are celebrated by jumping up whereas on FIFA i just think "get in"- maybe there is some loyalty in me after all)

You guys...
You really don't love football if you compare Fifa and PES...
I LOVE FOOTBALL...And I'm glad there are 2 companies trying to keep my footy needs uptodate!
I love pes...I always did...But lets be honnest...
Can you see Ronney for example run from the one side of the pitch to the other and noone can't stop him in real life?No he can't do that...Noone can do that...In PES you can do that...I hate that sooooo much...this isn't football at all!
In fifa you cannot run across the WHOLE pitch and can't be stopped!
You must build up your attack and by passing you get a chance to shoot!
Please don't say fifa is awful because it isn't...It is a very good footy game...I love playing fifa...
I hope pes2009 will be much better than fifa...
I played the demo but I can only say that the graphics are better... :(
I'm very dissapointed that again I'm paying Konami for non sponsored teams...They say Champions League is sponsored...For the 24 out of 32 teams?Sorry but this is awful... :(
I was waiting like mad to buy PES2009 so that I can play for the first time as Anorthosis Famagusta(My team)in Champions League...And there is no Anorthosis Famagusta in the game....Why?!
I hope the original version of pes makes me feel much better cause the demo doesn't saying much...
