Is using the D-pad on the 360 really that bad?

Hello, getting 360 for Christmas and obviously PES 2008, Ive played it on PS3 a lot and think its brilliant but I use the D-pad to control the players.

I heard its totally different and not very good using the D-pad on the Xbox 360, is this true?

Very different on an xbox controller. Much more awkward to use the d-pad. I also use the d-pad on the playstation but use the analog stick on the xbox.
