It is so frustrating to see your player doing something you did not choose to do and you lose because of that the match.

precisely...Zygalski is absolutely right...when i found out about the R1+R2 ability the game turned out to be completely different...for example...you can anticipate so much better this way...just practice more and you'll get there!:D

Yes, R2 is quite important, eg you can move your players manually when the ball is in the air to give them better positions for headers.

Hold R1+R2 to give you complete control.

Does that include stopping runs during through balls? I've had many a lovely ball out to the wing roll out of play with the winger running alongside it, and it gets frustrating.

yup, r1+r2 will stop your player from whatever he's doing... i hit the through ball button and then quickly r1r2, to cut the thruball short of where it was intended to throw off the computer for some really nice plays.

What is the fu**ing point in having the controller if the game decides to control the player YOU are supposed to be controlling? If the player is indicated as 'player controlled' I don't expect him to be running after a ball and put it out for a throw if I am pointing the joypad AWAY from the byline, so he doesn't chase it. F**king W**K in my opinion, I may as well watch a match between 2 CPU teams. GIVE ME FULL CONTROL OF MY PLAYER!

Dude calm down and read the above posts. When you want the player to move away from the ball in that situation, hold both R1+R2 with the direction and then he will move where you want him to - so he will leave the ball to run off the pitch and if you want, you can try to obstruct the opposing player too.
